I am glad we have Gino to hold the fort for now. He is still solid and the cost was better than expected (both draft and contract). I know there were a few who thought AO was average or better

[/quote]If they meant "average backup or better," they might be correct.
Average starter? AO12??? Not even close.

AO12 can't run, but neither could Brady. I hope that with some time in ONE system he develops into a start to replace Geno. Not saying likely but has shown skill and word is he can place the ball. If he did what great problem to have!

His deep ball is still ugly and when he is forced out of the pocket he does not typically square up on his throws. I know his fan will deny all of that but the tape, as they say, does not lie. Good backup and by all I have read a really good guy, which every team needs

Thing is O'Connell did not win the job out of camp last year, and we had a coach everyone knew was on a short leash. He was not about to play job roulette by making decisions that would doom him, he went with his best hand and it backfired. But that only tells me they had concerns about O'Connell and only moved him into the starting lineup because Getsy was a clown and did not call plays Minshew was good at. Getsy and Pierce made bad decisions but Telesco set them both up to fail as well.

I get Derek Anderson and Case Keenum vibes with Darnold. One good year then gravitates to the median.

I just think anyone who thinks he is more than a backup are kidding themselves (or high as a mother f[raiders_icon]cker).

I expect the same thing from Darnold in Seattle. He ain’t got no Jefferson to throw to there.

1. Behind a good line.
2. With a competent running back.
3. With a sane offensive system in place.
4. Stability/continuity in coaching and mgt.
No, I don't think he will be a superstar, but we have not seen his best yet.

And like you said, he's had what, 3 or 4 OCs since we drafted him?
I'm not saying he'll be our starter after Geno, but I do hope we hold onto him for a couple more years to see if coaching consistency can turn him into a real starting QB.
