The icing on the cake will be if Geno outplays Darnold
I'd put this at greater than 90% of happening.
What we need is a guy who has the physical abilities to perform what is required of him in a Chip Kelly offense.
Yep, that's a huge consideration. It's going to be really interesting to see what kind of impact he has on our offense. I'm firmly in the camp that Getsy was the biggest issue with last year's team, so that's a golden opportunity for improvement.
Age is a HUGE factor here though. You can't just "minus" it. If Darnold hit, you have a franchise QB for potentially 10 years. And not for nothing, I haven't brought his name up in some time. I mean it's really not a debate that the Seahawks made the smarter decision here, whether you guys like Darnold or not.
I dont believe they did. Darnold is a bad qb who last year played far above what he had done so previously on a very talented team. Comparing Minnesota roster and talent to the seahawks (now without Metcalf!) I think Seattle made a bad bet. Comparatively the Raiders made a better move, short term commitment to a quality starter (Geno has been much better these last few years) who PC knows very well. Allows the team to improve other areas through the draft and not reach on a qb out of desperation. They might not even take a qb and wait for next years more talent rich qb pool.
So sticking with a 1 till we find a 10 is the answer in your opinion?
You may have very well answered your own question.
It is possible to stick with the 1 in hopes of drafting a QB who ends up being a 10.
The icing on the cake will be if Geno outplays Darnold
Considering the fact that both are on new teams but Geno has his old coach and arguably a better OC I can see that happening, at least year one.

I think Geno is better than Darnold. Darnold is younger, but that doesn't mean a thing if he's not good. I think the odds of Darnold looking good outside of the Vikings-O'Connell ecosystem are really poor.
But it's ok if someone disagrees and thinks Geno is trash and Darnold is going to continue his Vikings' success. We'll see what happens on the field. I don't think anyone is convincing anyone else to change their minds at this point.
The contracts for Geno (and Darnold) are both very reasonable when you consider that they are only higher than about a half dozen vet "starters" - guys who are no longer on their rookie deals. The word starter is pretty liberal in that sense because it would currently include guys like Rudolph and Pickett. If you pull the rookie contracts out of the equation, Geno probably sits at about 16th highest paid among about 22 vet starters in the league. Young, Stroud, Maye, Williams, Daniels, Nix, Penix, Purdy, McCarthy, Levis are all rookie contract starters. I don't know if Richardson is a starter or not - I think it's about 50-50 between Richardson and Jones. And Purdy is likely to have a new contract that far exceeds what Geno is getting.
We don't have a top 5 QB. We also haven't had a path to get one. But we're a lot better, and I think we got the best guy available to us. YMMV.
.... that is EXACTLY the problem with Raider fans. Settling for mediocrity.
Who would you settle for this season?
Furthermore, if we the fans didn't feel "settled" would that make the team better?
So what's the problem?

So what's the problem?
The notion that a fan is settling is misattributed. We are not decision makers, so we either accept what is offered and make the best of if or be bitch and moan about missed opportunities that the brain trust pulled off. I mean, last year we have no idea what happened behind the scenes, we have no way of knowing who they were talking to leading up to the draft. We also have zero idea how much teams ahead of us were demanding for their picks. Missed opportunity means you had your chance and did not take it. We don't know that happened.
Fans are not settling, they are accepting what is before us. I have no idea what Geno is going to do for us but I also know he is not trash. He just was on some bad teams coached by bad coaches. When he got moved to a good team and finally got his shot with good coaches he shined. TD production may be middle of the pack but overall from the game tape I looked at, he looked sharp. And his age really does not factor in for me, he has not had the mileage a lot of QBs his age have had. I know the wheels will come off at some point but I don't really think that will happen in the next two years.

Safe to say that there were fans who "settled" for Gardner f'n Minshew last year, because he was supposedly an upgrade over AOC.
We're not talking whether fans have a say in team decisions, but instead, we're talking about whether fans were OK with team decisions.
