I dont think getting a qb is going to turn around a team this bad with this many holes in 1 year. So, in the grand scheme of things waiting that 1 extra year is worth the wait if the potential return is getting your franchise qb (1 year later) plus getting 2 extra free 1st round picks that you then use to take a DT and a WR with. I guess its going to boil down to how you rate Mendoza compared to other top qbs in other drafts. If you felt he was top quarter in that regard, that would be one thing. If you felt that he was about average among all the other top qbs in recent drafts thats another thing. The overall impression Ive gotten is that his year has overall been somewhat of a disappointment and that he is sort of an average top qb compared to other draft years. WRT the 8 year olds, it doesnt hurt to be early to the party.DanKD wrote: Wed Dec 17, 2025 2:58 pm Scouts say the nationwide peewee league has some great 8 year old prospects. Maybe we can wait until the 2039 draft and grab the 3rd grader who is currently balling out.

If Jets want our pick, I’d be asking for 3 first round picks. Two of them being their own. But the offer would have to come in before FA.

The Jets are in a unique situation, they are going to be in major rebuilding mode so there is no pressure to win right away. If they aren't sold on this years QB class they can wait till next year and build up the roster this year, I don't know that they are under that much pressure to take a QB this draft. They have 3 1st rd picks next year which all but guarantees they can get the QB they want. If I were them I wouldn't give up the house for a QB in this draft, I would keep the picks and get a core in place.

Nobody said this draft was the most loaded in years, at least nobody that actually knows college footballFLORIDARAYDAH wrote: Wed Dec 17, 2025 2:45 pm Last season all I heard was next year is the most loaded QB class in ages. 90% of them flamed out. Now it's wait till next year again. If they feel Mendoza is their guy don't fck around just get him.

IF the Raiders don't draft a QB next year then who plays QB and who coaches. NO coach would want to come to the Raiders without their QB of choice.

3 6'4+ QBs in this draft. Don't see the next draft being better.Cruisin with Tooz wrote: Wed Dec 17, 2025 3:20 pm he overall impression Ive gotten is that his year has overall been somewhat of a disappointment and that he is sort of an average top qb compared to other draft years. Mendoza is 6'5, high IQ, and has the arm to make all the throws. It would be stupid to pass up this rare opportunity to get a Franchise QB.
People forget, we drafted two linemen the year before last (JPJ, Glaze), and this past draft (Rodgers, Grant). It did nothing for our team. The Jets drafted the great Membou and it did nothing for them.
In 04' the Raiders opted to draft Robert Gallery and Wiz, instead of going BPA. It did nothing for our team, we went on to be futile for a decade.
The Raiders are on the right track going BPA the last couple of years. Let's keep that trend going.

He was never coming out, only the foolish fan boys thought that was going to happen. His family is smart enough to know he was in no way shape or form ready to enter the NFLSold My Soul wrote: Wed Dec 17, 2025 8:11 pm Smart move with Manning staying in the college ranks.....
Wonder if Peyton Arch Eli were like the Raiders with the no. 1 pick.....

Been stated to many times but bears repeating you can't measure heart.Raidernation1979 wrote: Wed Dec 17, 2025 2:45 pm Because it’s all opinion. Dolphins took Tua over Herbert. The consensus is routinely wrong. I’m routinely wrong. I’ve also been right. Who knows. I’m stating my opinion on a message board. I think intelligence and toughness can be overlooked for physical traits

I remember a lot of draft classes. I remember Aaron Rodgers falling to the end of the first. I remember Jamarcus Russel going number 1 overall. I remember trubisky being taken over mahomes, I remember people thinking Kyler Murray was a #1 overall pick and Trey lance and Anthony Richardson being picked in the top 5. Arguments Ryan leaf was better than Manning, tom Brady going in the 6th.Cruisin with Tooz wrote: Wed Dec 17, 2025 3:01 pm OK. Let me ask it a different way. In all the draft classes that you can remember, in what percentage was the top qb better than Mendoza? Im just trying to get some sense of how rare Mendoza is.
There’s so many more that show people especially pundits have no clue who will be good and who won’t. That’s why I believe that intangibles can be overlooked for physical attributes. Mendoza could be a bust. He could be Carr part 2 or he could be elite. Either way my opinion is the intangibles will push him near the top more likely than to the bottom.

No question he will benefit with another year in college...rcraider wrote: Wed Dec 17, 2025 8:15 pm He was never coming out, only the foolish fan boys thought that was going to happen. His family is smart enough to know he was in no way shape or form ready to enter the NFL
Especially with the Raiders in striking distance.
Because he has the Manning DNA...Every team would have to consider him in the 1st just based upon the pedigree. You would be a fool not to.
