Please travel to the east coast early enough to adjust to the time zone.
There’s finally a winnable game on the schedule.
Please don’t trick it off for nothing.

One of my favorite players of all time is Barry Sanders.
Not for his jaw dropping runs, but for lack of pretension. After ripping off the most amazing runs the NFL had ever seen, what would he do? Not spike it, not dance, not make a spectacle of himself, but simply toss the ball to the ref.
To him, it was no big deal. He just scored, he was going to do it again.
Jeanty and a lot of other players in the NFL could learn a lot by Sanders example.
Fitzgerald and Rice were similar.

I agree that Jeantys comments were foolish and unnecessary.

The old phrase “act like ya been there” applies. I get pissed when our team is down by say 3 TDs and dudes are celebrating a tackle for no gain or whatever

I'd say the Jets players who feel snubbed by Jeanty's comments are going to "want to tackle" him this Sunday. IMO when you're sitting at 3 yards per carry, you should probably shut up and just play. Maybe Jeanty is feeling like he's back to 100% and ready to roll - I hope so.

Devils advocate time.
Jeanty said this so they key on him and we use that as a decoy to light them up vs Bowers and Mayer with a little Tucker and Washington in the mix.
Yeah, I don't think so....
They know "Jeanty 3 yard" needs no extra keys....

I really don't care if they celebrate a TD or just hand the ball to the ref. You want to spike the ball, go ahead, it does not change that you just scored and it does not change it from 6 to 7 points.
What I cannot stand is is the first quarter when a DB gets a pick, all his clown friends on defense all run down to the other end and do these nonsense photo ops. Your clown friends did not get the pick and it is not a game saving play. Get your squirrelly ass over to the sidelines, high five your teammates, you know, the one's not good enough to be out there when you got the pick and then get your paper cup of water and sit your ass down on the bench. And when your teammate gets a fumble recovery, don't clown your ass around like you had a single f[raiders_icon]cking thing to do with that. And if you are getting that fumble, don't try to pick the pill up off the ground thinking you are going to score. You're not asshat, your going to almost grab it out of the air and then some 300 pound lineman is going to make you look like Wile E Coyote after your ACME rocket rams your silly ass into the side of the canyon, and that 300 pound goon will fall on the ball. Dumbass, fall on the f[raiders_icon]cking ball. And while I am at it, refs, keep away from the scrums. I see your pussy ass hat fly up into the air while you go down staring straight into the ass of some lineman who is wondering if ref tastes good because the 300 pounder has not eaten in 5 minutes and he is getting a little anxious. Ref, your job is to get your Beetlejuice costume away from the scrum. And finally, coach, when they are huddled over the injured player trying to see if he is still breathing, keep your ass out of the way. You know dick about what they are doing, keep your way oversized cue card in your face and figure out what you are going to do next because Johnny boy is too stupid to stay out of the way of a 300 pound lineman who just did a faceplant on top of your kicker and he is likely dead.

If I'm being honest, I hate choir boys. It's why I'm a Raider fan. I like guys who talk. Specifically guys who keep the talk between the lines and not outside of them. Football has become a sterile sport with a bunch of losers painting their nails worried about how they come across. Jeanty is a committed professional who offered up some bulletin material but I don't make too much of it.
I think there are other examples of guys who spoke a lot but weren't necessarily bad examples in practice or during a game. I love me some Jerry Rice but I can't deny I was a fan of dudes like Ochocinco or Beast Mode who had some kind of semblance of a personality but put in the work to back it up.

My favorite guys have always been nasty ugly players. Loved when Lyle signed with us. Loved that Howie was smack talking during our SB win. Loved that Davis set the table until, well it became pathetic with a 2 win team. Loved when Richie signed with us.
That said, you say it, live it and if you say it and cannot deliver, that is when you shut your ass up. It is when it blows up that I laugh though I admit it freely. Keyshawn Johnson is my favorite. He was part of the 2004 draft coverage when the Bucs drafted Michael Clayton. Keyshawn goes on and on about how he is going to teach Clayton to be a great Buc and how Keyshawn was going to be his mentor and on and on. Keyshawn got traded soon after that. And the kicker was, he had been deactivated for the last part of the 2003 season because he defied Gruden. He goes on to the Cowboys who were coached by Parcells and gets cut two years later so the Boys can sign Terrell Owens. Sometimes your mouth is just not your friend

Hopefully Kubiak uses Jeanty's idiocy to our advantage. Lot's of play action and using Jeanty as a decoy. Jets are going to be looking to knock his block off.

Yup this is exactly why when you talk it and back it up I love it. Honestly Jeanty might just be playing head games with himself. He's not an idiot, he understands he's underperforming. I'll be there on Sunday and hope I get to see him cash the check his mouth is writing

One of the old badass Raiders was once asked about how players celebrate today (this interview was several years ago) and his reply was something to the affect of "If any of us made a play and pointed to our name on the back of our jersey then we probably would have punched him in the mouth because he is now making it all about him and not about the team. We were always about the team".
I cant remember where I heard or read this as Ive read most of the old Raider books but if I had to guess, it was either Villapiano or Stabler but again I dont remember
