Offense looked good. Defense could use some work. Always good to get a win. Thoughts?

I honestly didnt see a scenario where Mendoza starts IF we were somehow a competitive team. It looks like we may be a somewhat competitive team and if we lose a couple close ones and Cousins keeps showing his limitations in pushing the ball past 10 yards and/or keeps turning the ball over i can definitely see Mendoza taking over sooner than later.

We had some of the same warm and fuzzies to start the aeason last year.

Hopefully this is different.

Washington doesn't have to be better. Chew clock and trust your defense that is fresh and playing great. A fresh Washington is good enough to run into a pile rather than a tired Jeanty.

Michael Mayer had more snaps than Jeanty, there is no evidence that he was gassed. We do not need to kid glove Jeanty, Washington is a different type of back and Jeanty was effective so you ride that. Seven players had more snaps than Jeanty and nobody is talking about that and most of them are running every snap. Hell, we are so focused on Maxx being out there but he had less snaps than Jeanty. Keep your best on the field and rotate them out on occasion but do it situationally. That is what we did and it worked.

Running back takes much more abuse that most other positions. Jeanty took some big hits yesterday. He was looking gassed mid late 4th quarter. He wasn't gaining yards either.

If he had an injury during mop up time the place would of gone crazy.

Plus Washington had less that 20 plays. Let him beat up their tired defense.

Jeanty earned the right to play with his play on the field. I am not a "coddle" guy. RBs are able to take the punishment because of their frame. You would not limit Henry, why limit Jeanty.

And that's why the majority of running backs are done by 30. And 2nd contracts are rare.

Henry is built different and I don't follow his games but I bet they pull him when the game is theirs.

Jeanty is also coming off injury.

With Bowers out, why risk your best offensive player for no reason.

Listening to Kubiak he doesnt sound like he was convinced the game was over until very late in the 4th and was disappointed the Raiders didnt "put them away" in the second half. He definitely was keeping the hot hands in and expected better play.

Rbs being done at 30, this is equally true of part time players too. Rbs simply do not age well generally whether they carry ot 20 times or 5 times a game.

I get that, but Jeanty wasn't effective late in the game. Bringing in Washington and his fresh legs might of been more effective and give the kid some more experience.

Exactly. Jeanty got flipped over for crying out loud, let the man rest.

I just checked via AI:

Ashton Jeanty had 8 carries for 4 yards in the 4th quarter. 0.5 yards per carry.

He was gassed.

not really, Henry and Jeanty are built very similar and Henry rarely is on the sidelines, and most especially when he was younger.
