Sigh...
"Again, the system is unknown to virtually to everyone at this point... they'll have to learn it like everyone else."
If it still doesn't sink in,...rinse, repeat.

The "system fit" only applies to QBs that exhibit NFL worthy attributes with no limitations. A good QB can play in any system. Therefore, it does not matter what system AO12 is in. He will suck in every system, equally.
And as previously stated, if Aidan O'Connell had the same exact stats and film while on any other team as a starter, backup, or #3, yous wouldnt even be able to name him on those cute little articles and charts being posted. The Raiders bias is laughable anymore.

Meh, sadly, that won't change much.

While I don’t think he’d be a starter in Kubiak’s offense as a backup he’d do well.
His issues haven’t changed since joining the NFL and that has nothing to do with us a a crap franchise for decades. Either a QB can read a defense AND get to the correct solution quickly or he can’t.
AOC12 can do the former but not the later. His internal clock is too slow for processing, in fact he’s in a way the opposite of our former 9 year starter whose clock ran way too fast leading to panic.

Unfortunately that isn't something that can be coached up. A QB either has it or he doesn't. Sometimes the game slows down faster for some than others but it is an innate quality and I would argue the most important one.Willmark wrote: Sun Apr 12, 2026 3:00 pm While I don’t think he’d be a starter in Kubiak’s offense as a backup he’d do well.

Yes he doesn't know the system. But if you count that then you also have to take into account that a very late Rd rookie or udfa who is vastly less paid and might fit the system better would stand the same or better chance of making the team as he is

None of his flaws and limitations can be coached up. It's why system fit or not, it doesn't apply to him. The plan should be to throw his ass to the curb, draft a QB3 that develops into QB2 once Cousins is gone. This is not that difficult to figure out.Toast wrote: Sun Apr 12, 2026 4:04 pm Unfortunately that isn't something that can be coached up. A QB either has it or he doesn't. System fit does not apply when you are a freakishly good QB with athletic skills. For the rest, they need to be in a system that embraces their skills. They rely on a system to mask their holes in their game. When it is your 3rd string guy, you are far enough down the trough that replacing you if you are not a fit is easy to pull off. If Aiden is here in Sept it is because a better fit did not materialize or we were not fast enough to grab him. No other answer makes any sense.

It was always a head scratcher to me why Randall Cunningham didn't work out in Philly under Ray Rhodes. I always felt it should have been more of an indictment towards Gruden's reputation as a QB guru. I am not sure I have ever seen a more physically gifted QB from A to Z.Attyla wrote: Sun Apr 12, 2026 4:18 pm System fit does not apply when you are a freakishly good QB with athletic skills. I’ve told this story before but I’ll tell it again. Decades ago when I was watching my brother playing a YFL football game in Santa Barbara, there was a kid on the opposing team that was pretty good. He returned kicks and punts and played QB. Almost every time he touched the football he scored. He was a man among boys. I was watching a locally known kid named Randy Cunningham lol. This was early 1970s.Toast wrote: Sun Apr 12, 2026 4:29 pm It was always a head scratcher to me why Randall Cunningham didn't work out in Philly under Ray Rhodes. Was anyone here a member of the old CBS sportsline? I was Raiderfan#1.
After they shut it down I went to TheAutumnWind for like 8 years under the same name. In 2016 I came here under KJ30.

That is a cool story. I'lll always remember that play against the Giants on MNF. I was in High School at the time and our coaches always had us doing the "hands in the dirt" drill. After this game the head coach was always showing this in our Thursday night meetings. Sorry for wading out in the weeds some but I thought this was a good example of a QB's almost super human athletic skill.Xramfan wrote: Sun Apr 12, 2026 5:03 pm I’ve told this story before but I’ll tell it again. I do remember at some point in time during his Philly tenure, they were not forcing, but trying to get him to be more of a pocket passer & do alot less running around. That was a big story line during that timeToast wrote: Sun Apr 12, 2026 4:29 pm It was always a head scratcher to me why Randall Cunningham didn't work out in Philly under Ray Rhodes.
