I know it seems like Harbaugh has had the Ravens solid to good for a long time.. but their fan base is stoked he's fired. They've wanted this for years. They've been a very undisciplined team for a long time. They always find a way to choke and lose. The terrible Raider team last year beat them at home with Minshew. It seems their fan base is flabbergasted at how they always come up short, how many stupid penalties they commit year after year etc.

Harbaugh is a solid coach but he's not some star home run. He was a special team coach who needs a stud OC and DC. Pass

A lot of champagne taste with natty ice assets going on in here. Harbaugh wouldn’t need to fit in here, he IS the fit.

Harbaugh would be an excellent hire.

Ravens fans say their kicker was shanking kicks and kicking off outta bounds all year. Same kicker who botched their playoff hopes. All at the helm of a special team coach savant HC. Harbaugh ain't it. That Ravens front office is where it's at, not Harbaugh

I have a bad feeling that this is going to be an embarrassing process for us. There's just not much to attract any decent coach to come here. We'll probably be having the same conversation next year.

Who knows what it is for us. We tried the culture guy (Carroll, pierce) - no good. We tried the offence-savant (Gruden, McDaniels) - no good.

I guess we haven’t tried the defensive savant yet… maybe that’s why the Flores rumours are out there.

DA didn't work out however I liked the fact that Mark allowed the GM be the GM and go get his guy. At the time it was a sound hire, DA was a young up and coming defensive coach. I remember being excited about it.

Little did we know Gruden was tea bagging Mark and angling for the job from day one.

DA stood no chance, that was an expansion team roster at the time.

His performance in New Orleans vindicated the firing however I felt the same way when Sparano buried the football.

Good post. A point I made in the other thread is that Mark’s biggest problem is that he doesn’t create a proper governance structure and there’s too much dysfunction. Funnily enough, he actually got it right the first time by hiring a GM and letting him hire a coach and there was no doubt how the command chain was. Both Reggie and Dennis Allen were too green and the team was a mess but the idea was sound.

Mark had to let Spytek pick his guy and run with it for a couple of seasons. Brady lives in Florida and is not in the building. Fine leaning on him for advice and using his network, but he cannot be the one to choose a coach.

“Too green?”

Please remind me how many 1st and 2nd round draft picks Reggie and DA had the first two years?

How much money did they have in the cap to spend on FA?

I know they sucked but just trying to remember what they did with all those drafts picks and cap surplus for FA they had

The first part of your post describes our franchise more than the Ravens. And to be fair, this awful Raiders team beat the Patriots at the beginning of this year - with Geno.
Harbaugh probably isn’t coming to save us but he would be the best coach we’ve had in a long, long time. He has a decade less wear than Pete. He won in spite of Lamar, not because of him.
Just the thought of the Harbaugh brothers coaching a couple times a year would be old school cool.

He had pretty solid QBs for his entire coaching career there.
