Youd just be delaying getting your qb 1 year. If you take their 1st this year (lets say #4 pick) and their 2 best firsts in 2027, you have enough capital to get the top OT in this year's draft and trade up in a better qb class to get the pick of the litter in 2027. We could even conceivably wind up with a top #3 pick next year and not even have to use those extra 1sts to get a franchise qb. That's the kind of trade that could drastically change our fortunes in a hurry.
Taking Mendoza also 100% guarantees that you whiff on taking a shot at a qb in 27.DanKD wrote: Wed Dec 17, 2025 11:28 am Yep but you miss 100% of the shots you dont take

I don’t think you get a qb equal to Mendoza. I think people underestimate his toughness and intelligence. Physical attributes many have but those 2 intangibles are rareCruisin with Tooz wrote: Wed Dec 17, 2025 1:48 pm The upside of that trade is that you still get a qb who will be at least equal to Mendoza; and you get 2 extra 1st round picks; and since the OL will be straightened out when you draft the qb, you get more use out of the qb's rookie deal. The downside of the trade is that you dont get a top 3 pick in 27 and you have to use those 2 extra 1sts to get a qb, who will be at least equal to Mendoza; and since you are still getting him 1 year later, you still get more use out of his rookie deal. Sounds like Im in the minority, but Im taking that deal.
No. Build the lines and the team with other picks and in free agency because QB trumps them all.Cruisin with Tooz wrote: Wed Dec 17, 2025 1:48 pm The upside of that trade is that you still get a qb who will be at least equal to Mendoza; and you get 2 extra 1st round picks; and since the OL will be straightened out when you draft the qb, you get more use out of the qb's rookie deal. Why is the consensus of opinion that next year's class is better and deeper? What has changed in the last 1-2 weeks? Other than the Heisman vote.Raidernation1979 wrote: Wed Dec 17, 2025 1:54 pm I don’t think you get a qb equal to Mendoza. I think people underestimate his toughness and intelligence. Well f’in said!Cruisin with Tooz wrote: Wed Dec 10, 2025 12:56 pm Winning a 3rd game drops us to #7, ahead only of Arizona. To get back to #2 from there would require 4-5 of the other lowlifes to win another game.
Because it’s all opinion. Dolphins took Tua over Herbert. The consensus is routinely wrong. I’m routinely wrong. I’ve also been right. Who knows. I’m stating my opinion on a message board. I think intelligence and toughness can be overlooked for physical traitsCruisin with Tooz wrote: Wed Dec 17, 2025 2:03 pm Why is the consensus of opinion that next year's class is better and deeper? Last season all I heard was next year is the most loaded QB class in ages. 90% of them flamed out. Now it's wait till next year again. If they feel Mendoza is their guy don't f[raiders_icon]ck around just get him.Cruisin with Tooz wrote: Wed Dec 17, 2025 2:03 pm Why is the consensus of opinion that next year's class is better and deeper? I inspect homes, and other stuff, for a living, and have for 25 years, and that is the first time I had ever heard it explained in just that way.GoodTimeCharlie wrote: Tue Dec 16, 2025 5:11 pm Appreciation for one’s consistency is greatly influenced by what one is consistent at.
I appreciate that the pipes under my toilet take shit away.
You on the other hand only bring shit takes.
Scouts say the nationwide peewee league has some great 8 year old prospects. Maybe we can wait until the 2039 draft and grab the 3rd grader who is currently balling out.Cruisin with Tooz wrote: Wed Dec 17, 2025 1:48 pm The upside of that trade is that you still get a qb who will be at least equal to Mendoza; and you get 2 extra 1st round picks; and since the OL will be straightened out when you draft the qb, you get more use out of the qb's rookie deal. OK. Let me ask it a different way. In all the draft classes that you can remember, in what percentage was the top qb better than Mendoza? Im just trying to get some sense of how rare Mendoza is.Raidernation1979 wrote: Wed Dec 17, 2025 2:45 pm Because it’s all opinion. Dolphins took Tua over Herbert. The consensus is routinely wrong.
