The Off. Line - Complaints, Fixes, Questions, Draft
Mike Tice once said while coaching for the Raiders: “If you look at the offense like a fancy car, the offensive line is the engine. Even though we might have nice spinners and nice rims and tinted windows and some neat paint job, it doesn’t mean crap without the engine. If the engine’s not working, the car might look like a pretty nice car, but it’s a piece of crap.” And he was 100% right. I wish we had him back. Changes must be made on the O-line. Charles Grant is a very athletic lineman. We should give him some reps at right tackle. Bring back Powers-Johnson as the starter at center. Parham has got to go. Maybe we should consider moving Meredith back to guard. He did so well there last year.

Seattle's line last year started improving about this time of year so there's some hope

It was also his first start as a rookie where as those other bums are in their 3rd or 5th yearerickench wrote: Tue Nov 03, 2026 7:00 am T. Zuhn was balanced in his debut as a starter. His PFF grades were about the same in terms of pass protection and run blocking, though not outstanding by any means. The others, S. Burford and JPJ, were not balanced. Burford is the better run blocker and terrible pass protector. JPJ is the better pass protector but terrible run blocker. Balance is important even if the grades are not considered good.

Yep you hit the nail on the head. Constantly firing guys and then changing players' positions from one regime to the next is not a recipe for success. The OL succeeds or fails as a group, and some of the best OL have played a ton of snaps together. We haven't been able to achieve that kind of consistency since Gruden.Hellbound wrote: Sun Nov 01, 2026 8:07 am Cycling through coaches and gyms with changing philosophies every year isn't helping with the players that are drafted either. Gotta stick to a scheme & let the hc/gm get players for that particular system. Right now we have a bunch of mishmash players drafted for certain systems. yes the coaching has been bad too though
