It's not nitpicky at all. It's an important tool in every QB's repertoire. I so wish Carr had Jason Campbell's play-fake, which may have been the best I've ever seen. Carr's PA move from shotgun is as bad as it can possibly be. From under center it's only slightly better because he has to turn to set up for the pass anyway, so he dead-arms the ball out while still looking downfield. I imagine that from a defensive players point of view, it still needs to be respected, but only minimally. Seen live at the game or on TV, it's clear as hell when he's going to actually hand the ball off and when he's not.
I have the same bitch about his pump-fake (which if used at all would've tied the game against Cinci last year).
I remember even the cameraman was fooled a handful of times on Jason Campbell play action — he wasn’t a fantastic QB, but was very well suited to a run first offense. Didn’t cost a ton of money, managed games efficiently and facilitated the run in more than one way (PA included). He’s the kind of game manager you can make noise with if you put him on a team with a great running game and stout defense. We had a good running game with McFadden and Bush, but the defense…

Carr teases these kind of games every year. He produces enough for the Flybono's to come running only to have more games where the Flybono's find one aspect of a disaster performance to hang a hat on.....usually after a loss. Its the defense, the play calling, the refs, the weather, the negative vibes put out onto the etherness. What ends up happening is a lot of emoji's and a bunch of likes by the Flybono's of the rare defense posts of the Carr shaky games.
rinse and repeat.

rinse and repeat.
Being great is often all about consistency, and Carr does not consistently make great plays that keeps the offense humming. We’ve lowered the bar for him all the way down to, “well let’s hope he doesn’t make any big mistakes.” He’s got so many weapons on offense and any talk of him having a career year has died since the season started.

Would anyone want the Russel Wilson now starting as the Raiders QB over Derek Carr? I am just curious.

1. Wilson is in his 1st year in a new system
2. Wilson has a whole new coaching staff
3. Wilson needs a few seasons to grasp the playbook
4. Wilson doesn’t have enough help on offense
5. Wilson’s o-line is horrible
6. Wilson’s coaches suck they aren’t putting him in the best position to succeed
Any of this sound familiar?

Beating a dead horse, but we could get the same production from a first round QB next year and use all of that money on defense.

Highly doubtful. Most rookie QB's don't fair very well in the NFL.

Hand off to JJ,hand off to JJ,throw to the best WR in football. It’s an easy gig.
