Our Lines are HORRENDOUS.
I will keep this short. How are we expected to win with the putrid play from our lines. We are worst in the league gaining .45 yards before contact on the offensive side of the ball. Furthermore, we are 2nd worst having RB's met at or behind the line of scrimmage. We all see this. Our guys do not have a shot. Is Jeanty hurt? I think he is but it matters not. Bo could not run behind this shit show. It does not end there. Our DL has been equally bad as well. We average a league worse over 2 yards per carry before making contact with the RB. Think about that for a second. I do not care how much talent you have elsewhere. You can not win with what we have.

One of Kurt's super powers is making the line rate better than what I think it is pass blocking.RI RAIDER wrote: Fri Nov 06, 2026 7:45 am I have to be honest. I hate certain stats and they sometimes give a false positive or negative. Our offense is much improved and is putting points on the board. However, Captain Kirk has still faced the most pressures in the league this season and is close to the top in hits taken. I know Cousins is old and slow of foot, and holds on to the ball (we do not have much in terms of guys getting open) which has upped these numbers. I was never a Kirk fan. I must admit that I was totally wrong about him. I thought of him as a pussy and he is everything but that. He extends plays and is so smart with the ball. He avoids sacks, knows when to dump the ball, does not make stupid passes, and scans the field. Hopefully, Fernando is digesting all of this. Kurts play has made our pass blocking better than what it actually is if we are being honest. I am torn because Fernando needs to play (and the season is lost) and Kirk has earned the right to play. I am glad I am not the coach.
Oline rating must be the hardest thing to rate with stats, because eyeballing, this line isn't good right now at anything.
They are ok'ish passing and not good run blocking.
Do a lot of other teams suck to? Yep.
But that doesn't make us good because they are bad.
There are actually really good oline's and we need to be there to be legit.
I watched Kurt's 33 point comeback (largest in history) while at Minnesota yesterday, he looked similar then to what we have now.
Perhaps one of the things we weren't thrilled with getting Kurt was the Achilles injury and not looking good on this side of it until now.
He's not Marino, but he's got a pretty good way about how he plays.
He knows what he wants to do, it's quick and it usually works. This should be great for Mendoza.

Nice post Skull. Kurt has made the OL pass blocking look better than it actually is because of his play. I hate those OL stats because I have seen OL's that played well despite poor stats and vice versa. I think the OL stats are just a tool, but it really does not tell the big picture. I prefer to use QB hits allowed, pressures allowed, when a RB gets hit, etc. when looking at how effective an OL is (both run and pass). The long and short of it is some stats could make shit look like ice cream (and the other way around).

Win rate is not dependent upon the QB, and we are one of the best at that next gen stat

I just do not put to much credence in OL stats because it is difficult to grade these players and pigeon hole them as a success or failure. There are tremendous discrepancies between evaluating a player via pass block win rate and pass blocking grade. For example, Burford is supposedly playing great (10th best out of all the guards in the league) in pass blocking using the win rate. However, he is garbage (69th out of 75) when looking at him using the pass blocking grade. The play of the QB does have no impact on win rate. That being said, the play of nearby linemen has a bigger impact on win rate than pass blocking grade.

capt kirk is getting enough time to drive up and down fields and put massive amounts of scores...doesnt that tell you if the oline is playing good or bad when it comes to passing ??? results matter
