Our Lines are HORRENDOUS.

Unread post by RI RAIDER »

I will keep this short. How are we expected to win with the putrid play from our lines. We are worst in the league gaining .45 yards before contact on the offensive side of the ball. Furthermore, we are 2nd worst having RB's met at or behind the line of scrimmage. We all see this. Our guys do not have a shot. Is Jeanty hurt? I think he is but it matters not. Bo could not run behind this shit show. It does not end there. Our DL has been equally bad as well. We average a league worse over 2 yards per carry before making contact with the RB. Think about that for a second. I do not care how much talent you have elsewhere. You can not win with what we have.

....and for those complaining that they didn't do more to address that last season, who knows what they had in mind with the Maxx picks, before having been stiffed by the ravens on that deal, though in that scenario, you also subtract Maxx and have that to deal with, as well.
...regardless of any of it, there were too many glaring holes to have been able to address everything in one off season.

I think we were going to take Ioane with the first Maxx pick. I am not saying this kid is going to be at the Q Nelson level, but he is going to be a special player. I am still pissed that the trade did not go thru. It would have set us up in a big way. To add, Baltimore's first rd pick this year is higher than anyone expected.

Eh, two things can be true. Washington is the better option right now and the line is also bad. It's not Jeanty's fault JPJ is getting beat off the snap, Linderbaum is consistently being pushed back into the pocket, and Burford is bad in almost every facet. We just saw Washington get the bulk of the work load with marginal improvements but the run game still sucked.

Linderbaum hasn't been a disaster but more was expected for the money he's being paid. Pass blocking has been pretty decent all things considered but it's like there's some sort of run blocking cancer in the organization as three different coaching staffs as well as different players and still none of them can run block.

Rabidraider wrote: Thu Nov 05, 2026 6:35 am As bad as the oline has played we are a high scoring team offensively. Its need attention for sure.

But

The defense is at the bottom of points allowed and rushing yards allowed. Even a middle of the pack defense the team would be 6-2 and heading for a playoff spot.

Fixing the defense is the priority.

I know both can accrue at the same time, but if given a choice between a stud nose tackle and a stud WR1, I would take the tackle at this point in time.
agreed 100 pct ...offense is top 10 (current 8), scoring is not an issue for the team despite the run oline being terrible (rank 21) , pass blocking, the raiders oline ranks 2nd (san fran #1) with a pass blocking win rate of 63%

dline lacks a multiple run stuffers, which also affect our linebacker play

was it marginal ??? if that had been jeanty running it 25 times he would have been way under 3.3 yds per carry (my guess less then 2 yds per carry) lindenbaum and burford both had grades of 75 this last game, i think with zuhn starting our oline played and looks better...agree we much improve a lot more in 2027

I have to be honest. I hate certain stats and they sometimes give a false positive or negative. Our offense is much improved and is putting points on the board. However, Captain Kirk has still faced the most pressures in the league this season and is close to the top in hits taken. I know Cousins is old and slow of foot, and holds on to the ball (we do not have much in terms of guys getting open) which has upped these numbers. I was never a Kirk fan. I must admit that I was totally wrong about him. I thought of him as a pussy and he is everything but that. He extends plays and is so smart with the ball. He avoids sacks, knows when to dump the ball, does not make stupid passes, and scans the field. Hopefully, Fernando is digesting all of this. Kurts play has made our pass blocking better than what it actually is if we are being honest. I am torn because Fernando needs to play (and the season is lost) and Kirk has earned the right to play. I am glad I am not the coach.

I think the hardest part of the decision comes down to the locker room. It's pretty obvious by the way this team fights even when down multiple scores that the culture in the locker room is very strong right now. If you trade away your thriving starting QB to move on to an untested rookie, how does that impact the culture? Yes we all know (including the players) that Mendoza is the future, but players are thinking about this year, not next year.

It's a risk, even though it's certainly possible that we don't even see a decline in overall results with a QB change. It will certainly be a stylistic change but the results could be similar.

Beat the Niners and the possibility of a trade is absolutely gone. Lose to the Niners and I guess there's a slim possibility of a move - it also depends on what other results are around the league. We still haven't beaten a good team this year so it's hard to see this team doing much more than hanging around the middle. The middle of the league is a big upgrade from last year, but it's still not what we're after long term.

Try this:

"I think we have to see how things develop at the end of the season. I mean, if Washington is the starter now and the running game improves, the line might not be as bad as we think… it might be more on Jeanty."

Just having some fun but I’ll let myself out :)

It was against one of the worst rush defenses in the league and it was still a bad performance. That was the point I was trying to make considering I acknowledged Washington is the better option right now. I'm simply unwilling to give the linemen a pass when I think Washington's game could have been even better if the OL weren't scrubs.

double edge sword, cause our oline pass blocked very well in that game, so marginal improvement in the run game probably affected the game overall

For a bad line, we are hovering toward the top of the league in pass blocking win rate.
