when we drafted washington i thought he was just like charbs in many ways but more explosive but i could not see jeanty in the walker role cause he was a plodding type rb

Funny Jeanty with a crap Oline last year had over 1,000 yards most of which came after contact at or before the LOS.

This year game 1 he looked sharp but then the following games he appears limping and stiff and not explosive

I’ll hold off on the “bust” nonsense and presume he simply has been injured and should have been benched a few games ago to heal. Playing hurt, which he is, is doing him and the Raiders no favors.

I’ll wait until he is recovered to see how he does and judge accordingly.

In camp Jeanty went down in such a fashion that the team took to one knee. I almost wonder if it would have been better for him to go on IR. Not just for us but for his career trajectory. Playing hurt is a thankless endeavor, putting bad tape out there while not being 100% has really made folks forget about his first 17 games.

He's gotta be injured, it's the only explanation that makes sense

On goal-to-go carries Washington had 6 carries for 0 yards. I got frustrated because we would run on 1st, get stuffed, run on 2nd, get stuffed, and throw on 3rd.

That really hurt Washington’s ypc average. His stats would have looked better if they had more success there.

But in other situations the running game did well. Even if they only picked up 3 yards on 1st down, it made 2nd and 3rd down much easier and didn’t feel like the team just threw away a down.

What really hurt the team in previous weeks was getting 1 yards, 0 yards or even negative yards on 1st down and ending up with 2nd and long and 3rd and long situations.

I think we got a better idea of how effective the offense can be if we get something out of the running game.

Of course someone might say the Jets run defense sucks and that’s true. I’m really curious to see what happens in the next 3 games.

Also I’m hoping there is a better chance Jeanty could heal up because of his low number of carries. I think he has been injured and a healthy Jeanty with Washington should improve the running game.

I don’t know enough about Coach K’s Outside-Zone and whether or not it has specific weakness to short yardage situations, but I can conceive of the possibility that an offensive line built for quickness and lateral mobility gets worse the shorter and more condensed the field gets. Down inside the 10 we need smoke-coming-out-your-ears push more so than lateral agility and we just ain’t got the horses for it.

I’ve been looking forward a smidge to us grabbing a WR1 next draft, especially if that WR1 is named Charlie Becker, but if he’s gone, I wouldn’t feel the slightest misgivings if Day 1 and the beginning of Day 2 are spent entirely on the lines.

We are blowing the doors off with scoring, but imagine what this could be with a running game. And yes, our two-headed running game. “A Raider Nation divided against itself cannot stand.” —Big Al Lincoln. In other words, enough with the f[raiders_icon]cking fanboy shit. It’s f[raiders_icon]cking weird. (Not directed at you Steve007)

I agree. I have changed my opinion a bit on Jeanty. I have watched some clips of Jeanty runs and the Oline has been domninated, including Linderbaugh (he was pushed around by that guy from Buffalo bigtime).

I am not 100% sure that this run scheme is better than last year and wonder if our current line doesn't have the strength and/or agility to run the scheme effectively. Way too many easy sheds by the D-line against our guys.

It seemed that Jeanty had his burst again on Sunday during that long catch and run. He looks a ton more healthy and I hope they give him a bulk of the carries this week.

Linderbaum, if we draft well, will eventually be the smallest guy on our offensive line.

I’m just hoping they give the rock to the guy who’s running the best regardless of wherever the heck he was drafted. Hot hand.

Didn't mash through 26 pages....posting an article I came across.

For the record I'm an AJ backer all the way.

..........

I have a love-hate relationship with Las Vegas Raiders running back Ashton Jeanty. As a decades-long die-hard Raiders fan, I love that the Silver Surfer, fully healthy at his best, looks like former Jacksonville Jaguars RB Maurice Jones-Drew. I hate how much he’s lost his mojo trying to play through ankle and foot injuries with the 10th-highest snap share of any back going into Week 8. There have been discussions in the building about resting Jeanty until Las Vegas’s Week 13 bye, per ESPN’s Dan Graziano, but Jeanty has been adamant that he wants to tough it out, and Raiders head coach Klint Kubiak never wavered on playing him. That was until Week 8, when Jeanty made some laughably bad comments calling out the New York Jets defense for bad tackling four days before playing them in East Rutherford. Seemingly as a result of that bulletin board material, Kubiak soft-benched Jeanty, giving the RB the rest his body so clearly needs.

Jeanty played only 37 percent of the Raiders’ offensive snaps in their 38-33 win against the Jets, and he broke zero tackles on the two carries Kubiak called for him. He was used mostly as a passing-down back; Jeanty caught two checkdowns for 19 yards and then took a screen 45 yards for one of his biggest plays of the season … after falling on the ground.

Rookie running back Mike Washington Jr., built much taller than Jeanty at 6-foot-2 and 228 pounds, carried the load decently in Jeanty’s stead. Washington averaged just 3.3 yards per tote on 25 carries, but he constantly fell forward, picked good rushing lanes, and didn’t put the ball on the turf. He was a reliable sledgehammer that wore on New York’s defense enough to find some successful runs and set up easier play-action looks. Kubiak’s offense recorded a 67 percent success rate against the Jets in Week 8, which is tied for the third-best mark for any game Kubiak has called in the past three years and is more than 12 percentage points better than any of his eight in Las Vegas. Part of that is because Aaron Glenn is at the bottom of an all-time-bad head coaching run, and he’s in charge of the Jets defense. Another part of it is that Kubiak is finally doing what he should have done games ago and soft-benching the banged-up Jeanty.

Jeanty hasn’t earned any room to chirp in the NFL. He’s a former no. 6 pick who’s playing like a run-of-the-mill third-down back because he’s playing through injuries, so injuries can’t be an excuse. Kubiak telling his locker room that players play when players say they can play is probably a net positive, especially considering the Maxx Crosby blowup over not being able to play when he was hurt last year. But Kubiak’s offense suffered with Jeanty as the feature back, and it put up season-best numbers without him. Jeanty will have a bigger role next week in San Francisco, I imagine, but it probably won’t be as big as it was to start the season and maybe never will be again if Deuce can’t heal up and shut up (specifically to the media when talking about any future opponents).

It doesn't matter how the Jeanty pick turns out a RB at #6 when you had virtually no talent on the O Line & nothing else on offence it was a luxury pick

I remember talking about taking Tyler Booker but got told you don't draft a guard at #6 or pass up on a “generational” talent

Let’s hope Jeanty doesn’t go the Trent Richardson route & hopefully take the slow burner Derrick Henry/Melvin Gordon route

It’s all shoulda woulda coulda though & the pick is in so let’s hope Jeanty improves

Even as a third down back Jeanty will contribute over 1000 yards. Half by rushing and the other half by receiving.

Cool...Chase Brown & Tony Pollard do the same thing and they were 4th and 5th rd picks. I expect elite numbers from a 6th overall pick

A yard is a yard. Doesn't matter how you get it.

If Jeanty gets around 1500 APY then he's a good player. If he gets around 2000 APY he's elite, and worth the pick.

Doesn't matter if it's through the air or ground.

so Latavius Murray was not good. Then it is settled, by your standard.
