Kirk Cousins
I have rarely seen a QB do more with less. Kubiak has made it clear that he is the guy this year but his play has really defied conventional wisdom. The run blocking is as putrid as it was last season. The pass blocking has been getting compliments but how much as that has to do with Cousins's pocket presence and pre snap reads?
I am not sure the subject deserves its own thread but I think what he has accomplished this season cannot be overstated and he has essentially put the offense on his back. I don't think anyone saw this coming.
Thoughts?...

You can't put a price tag on leadership and character.

That would be true for a long term fixture. I really appreciate what he has done for us, but KC is not a long term fixture here. He's either gone next week or in 10 weeks. And his replacement is not lacking in leadership or character either. The price tag is a 2nd round pick.Reno Hightower wrote: Wed Nov 04, 2026 6:50 pm You can't put a price tag on leadership and character.

Because of his contract, the only way Cousin's stays with this team is as a coach. Maybe a QB coach under Mike Sullivan. Cousin's is very likeable and seems to have a great relationship with Mendoza. Won't happen but that's the only way he stays.

I have been racking my brain trying to figure out who he reminds me of when he makes a boneheaded play and storms off the field and then it hit me...

I agree..... I think he'll take this year's performance as a FA opportunity. Or he could make $300k as a coach and work insane hours.

I'd pay Kirko Chainz $300K to be the new team chaplain. This started off as a joke but the more I stew on it, the more I'm dead serious. This type of leadership is priceless lolchucker wrote: Thu Nov 05, 2026 9:55 am I agree..... I think he'll take this year's performance as a FA opportunity. Remember the interview where cousins said it’s gonna be cool when he’s sitting at home one day watching the Raiders and Mendoza and thinking about how he helped turn it around. Yeah I like Cousins.

Cousins has made ~$330 million of the course of his NFL career. Second to only Aaron Rogers. He has a great relationship with Kubiak and our franchise in waiting QB. I am not certain that he wants to go play anywhere else at this juncture of his playing career.
If he were four years younger this conversation would be different. Just speculating but either way he has opportunities in sports media awaiting his eventual retirement.

I think Cousins is happy with the Raiders but would love to have at least one more chance to QB a team in the playoffs. He's also likely to spend at least some time this season on the bench after we're out of the playoffs and are officially in next year mode. We will need Mendoza to get some playing time.Reno Hightower wrote: Sat Nov 07, 2026 6:24 am Cousins has made ~$330 million of the course of his NFL career. Second to only Aaron Rogers. No doubt and the Vikings could present him with that kind of opportunity. Either way he has made watching Raider football fun again.chucker wrote: Sat Nov 07, 2026 6:32 am I think Cousins is happy with the Raiders but would love to have at least one more chance to QB a team in the playoffs. yes 330 million is a lot of money over a career but we dont know about his investments or his businesses ...kc could easily sign a 2 yr deal that avg 35 million a yr after the raiders release him ...no way in hell is he passing up a 70 million dollar dealReno Hightower wrote: Sat Nov 07, 2026 6:24 am Cousins has made ~$330 million of the course of his NFL career.
