More wins than last year, Jets post game thread

Unread post by RaiderandBulldog »

With the win in New York today. The 2026 Raiders have already passed the win total from last year. We all wanted improvement and now it’s official in the record books,

1. Zuhn out there looked much better than JPJ at RG, For that matter the played better(ish). Note, I didn't say they played great.

2. Defense. The first half was house of horrors. 2nd they did just enough, but it certainly wasn't pretty.

3. Kirk continues to put this team on his back and all he does is generate offense. 16 TDs is tied for first, and 4th in yards.

4. Gutsy call by Clint to go for the FG.

5. Game ball to Laube. First KR of the season and we sorely needed that at that point in the game to help blunt the onslaught of the Jets.

6. I'd say Bowers but we all know how good he is at this stage of the game.

In all a ugly win, but one we desperately needed. The next two games especially aren't going to be easy. I'm hoping for the same thing: improvement each game, stay close in each one and have a shot. No NE style blowouts.
I couple of other things, was the announcer (not vilma) drunk in the booth today? At the beginning of the game, twice he said it was Jeanty on the field. He's right up in the booth so not only can he see the players on the field but he has TV screens as well and supposedly assistants helping him? Then when Smith threw that first long pass and it went through the guys arms and bounced all over the field he yelled he caught it. I'm 3,000 miles away and clearly saw what he didn't. lol

Something else that caught my eye was after the replay when they overturned the short line of gain and gave the jets a 1st down an official is over their high fiving the Jets HC. Why would you do that!?? It gives such a look of impropriety. I would say our next four games are brutal...

That bothered me as well. I think the Broncos and Browns are very beatable. Winning the 49ers game will require a few miracles. Kubiak will need to tap into his inner Herb Brooks.

Seattle is a bit of a wild card. 1-The Commanders beat them. 2-Kubiak knows their strength and weaknesses very well. His game planning could be the X factor in that one.

We get them at home which is really only an advantage because we do not play in Seattle.

 Just win podcast Just exposed Mike Washington. Raiders had their 2nd best YARDS BEFORE CONTACT game of the season, yet YARDS AFTER CONTACT was the 2nd WORST it's been all season. Mike Washington had negative yards expected. 25 carries against the worst defense in the NFL and a negative EPA. Ashton Jeanty had 4.5 ypc.

Mike Washington average dropped to 4.2. Another 25 carries against the whiners and that average will continue to drop. If Mike's carries ever match Jeantys we will see what the truth is. The results so far show that Mike isn't better, there is just a bias against Jeanty.

Right now; the raiders need to stay with Washington as the lead running back; Jeanty is great at being the passing down back as he can catch the ball and we do need him for that;

Quite a bit to digest from that game.

Positives:
Half time adjustments. The first half was ugly but the second much improved on both sides of the ball.
Laube's KR TD. Been waiting a looooong time for one of those.
TE's. Best in the league.
We won. In previous years we would have found a way to lose that game in the last few minutes and we didn't panic when the Jets were stomping us in the first half.

Negatives:
Interior oline. Mildly improved today from previous weeks but this is still a huge issue. Zuhn didn't shit the bed completely as a starter but we need a lot more from both guards and our very expensive center
Interior dline. We just don't have the talent here. It is hard to criticise the players when you can see the effort but the amount of running yards conceded in the first half was shocking.
WR - Just not much happening here.

We know what the issues are and what the fix is. Still need two starting quality guards and one, maybe two, defensive tackles. A WR who is a genuine threat. However, we are winning games with these problems which tells me our coaching staff is doing a good job.

Washington v Jeanty. I'm not writing Jeanty off at all. His game is suited to running through gaps in the interior but we don't have that at all. Washington is more of an off tackle runner and he's getting more yards as our tackles can create gaps for him. Jeanty is a great receiver and blocker. Washington isn't. I think they compliment each other well but the lack of guards is stifling the run game, particularly for Jeanty.

We look like a .500ish team. Some pieces in place but glaring issues that need fixing and it will take a great off season, possibly two, before they can be addressed properly. In the meantime let's enjoy the ride and the fact we can compete in most games even when the talent gap is noticeable.

....our DC looks bad, without question, and especially when we keep getting beat by the same plays though out a game, but to be fair, we do also have a lot of youth on the back end, and yesterday , and a few of our free agents are not planning out, as happen...
....Gino had it going on though the air, and is who he has always been away from the chip / pete show, and mu issue with him was, as a supposed leader, and at that position, how he handled it last year....he had a lot of quit in him, and while I understand that had to have been a beyond frustrating situation for a player trying to make that shit work, was a .not a good look....
....stokes had a rough day, but that doesn't change my feeling that we have some talent back there, but I think one more draft and off-season, spend wisely, on both sides of the ball will make a huge difference.

As already stated the D line just sucks ass right now but I did notice they activated Tim Keenan III #91 rookie from Alabama, he had a few reps where he was getting a pretty good push, would like to see more playing time for him.

I certainly think Rob Leonard is a big part of the problem. The team looks unprepared and confused. Nobody is attacking. They are constantly on their heals and not tackling at all. It looks like flag football a lot of the time. I don’t think Rob is up to the job mentally honestly. He looks scared on the sideline with his hands often shaking holding the menu card. If your coach isn’t confident, it’s likely the D won’t play confidently. In his pressers he’s also very defensive which also shows a lack of confidence. I think we hire someone experienced in the offseason. Please stop listening to players about which coaches they like!

Was at the game. Very happy to come out with a W. Stokes has got to go. I’m 63 and could cover better than him.

Watch it without biased eyes. Glenn was getting hyped up and he was the one that tried to high 5 the official. The official didn't do it back, said something to the effect of "no" and just gave a smile. Nothing to see there imo

That's fine but if they continue to use this as the rotation, they need to mix up the run/pass play calls a bit more. It was painfully obvious if it was a run or pass by whichever rb was in

my comment was more tongue in cheek. Our resident Jeanty champion used that same argument about power rankings.
