Is it Mendoza time?

Unread post by pfish57 »

We are on a 4 game losing skid, and I think it's time to put KC out to pasture...with that said all this talk of Mendoza getting destroyed is ridiculous...hell KC has somehow come out unscathed after 7 games what makes people think a mobile QB will fare worse...we aren't going anywhere with KC! It's time to get the kid some real game time experience & see what life with Mendoza entails!

I don't think he was that great at Miami. Certainly not worthy of 1st overall and Imo wasn't even a 1st rounder. He's a product of a qb needy team, picking first, and him being the only viable option. Sometimes gm's can't get out of their own way

I agree that he was a hyped up QB who was the product of a poor class. He was probably a first round QB but low in the round and should have sat. In contrast, Mendoza may be the most NFL ready QB we have seen in a while coming out.

A lot of people were upset we won some games and didn't end up #1 but we really lucked out in hindsight

Ward is an interesting case. He has so much bust in him but then he lets loose a pass that is beautiful. Problem is, he is getting worse not better. Titans probably got the right head coach for a team that has focused on playing more of a smash mouth style offense but they got him at the wrong time. Had they had a chance to get Salah last year, Ward would not have been interesting to him and they would have either traded down or taken the best defensive player. Abdul Carter on this team would have made a lot of sense

That's fair. He didn't scream "can't miss" like an Andrew Luck or even to a lesser extent Trevor Lawrence or Joe Burrow. I just didn't think he'd be this bad.

For me Ward looked a lot more like Blake Bortles than he did any of those guys. He can throw a pretty pass from an uneven platform but it's simply not there between the ears.

There is definitely something to this. His playbook seems really light, he interviews poorly and watching him on the field he has zero processing skills. If ever there was a one read lock onto your target guy, it is him. It is almost like he is waiting for the pressure so he can roll out and make himself one dimensional. I know interviews are not football smarts, but the ability to communicate is a key at that position and he just presents himself poorly in that regard. I don't expect Harvard grad level communication but at least give me a high school level when you answer questions

Yea his ability to communicate was a huge red flag for me when he was coming out too. At the end of the day the QB is middle management and I don't believe a guy who speaks or thinks like he does can lead a team of diverse guys from all walks of life. You need to be the coach's mouthpiece on the field. It's like a guy without arms trying to conduct a symphony.
