Is it Mendoza time?
We are on a 4 game losing skid, and I think it's time to put KC out to pasture...with that said all this talk of Mendoza getting destroyed is ridiculous...hell KC has somehow come out unscathed after 7 games what makes people think a mobile QB will fare worse...we aren't going anywhere with KC! It's time to get the kid some real game time experience & see what life with Mendoza entails!

Agreed. And personally I think it would need an injury to multiple teams QBs for Cousins to hold any value at all. He simply isn't going to win you a superbowl at this age, so it's an expensive bandaid for whoever makes that dealAttyla wrote: Thu Oct 29, 2026 1:07 pm I have read these Cousins trade ideas being floated out there and then I see his balls and the air speed they possess. And then I looked at all the contenders out there and most all of them are sitting pretty at the job. That would mean we would need a significant injury for this to be in play at all. Two games are going to determine that and I think the odds are pretty low to be honest. Especially with the QB protection ratchet the NFL has installed over the years.

I think the Vikings may make a play for him. Their defense is carrying them right now and is playing INCREDIBLE. Murray still blows and I think Cousins is a better alternative. I know teams might not be OK with a QB change when you have a perfect record. However, considering Cousins connections to the Vikings and the fact that their W's have not been a byproduct of Murray, I am sure that they are thinking very hard about Cousins. Also, lets not forget that Jefferson loves Cousins and had his best years with him behind center.Attyla wrote: Thu Oct 29, 2026 1:07 pm I have read these Cousins trade ideas being floated out there and then I see his balls and the air speed they possess. Ironically, the most obvious destination is Minny. Would they swallow their pride to re-acquire him in a trade? Hard to say.Attyla wrote: Thu Oct 29, 2026 1:07 pm I have read these Cousins trade ideas being floated out there and then I see his balls and the air speed they possess. But their defense is uniquely good, and their offense is ranked near the bottom in many significant metrics (both raw numbers and advanced stats).
Kyler adds more of an athletic spark than Kirk, not just with his vastly superior legs but also with his arm strength. But he’s not as good at managing the game, he’s more of an all or nothing player.
They have some weapons on offense aside from Kyler. Can it give them enough to give them a legitimate chance to capitalize on their historic defense with a SB win? Or would Kirk produce more with the same talent?
They’re currently 6-0 riding that defense, they don’t need *much* more. But they probably do need more from their offense to make serious noise. Kirk’s arm is pretty shot, I definitely agree with that, but he’s got that “Unc QB” command of the offense. Maybe that’s a better fit for what they’re trying to do?
Other than that, I don’t think there’s much of a market for Kirk. Philly lost Hurts, but most Philly fans I know want to focus on retooling rather than going all in this year, and most of them estimate Howie is thinking about it the same way

I take another tact on that.. I don't see the Vikes trying to get a guy who's arm is weak simply because might mouse is not that great. I think it would take an injury for a big time team to see anyone pull the trigger

He's better than what the Vikings or Eagles are trotting out. NFC East is wide open.

The Vikings are close to the bottom in the league in passing yards and TD's. Jefferson is having a bad season statistically and I am sure he is getting antsy and may be pushing for Cousins as we speak. They are eventually going to need offense (despite their incredible defense) and know that Tom Thumb is not the answer. I could easily see them making the move because they are legit Super Bowl contenders.Cruisin with Tooz wrote: Thu Oct 29, 2026 8:44 pm He's better than what the Vikings or Eagles are trotting out. Roseman is a smart one. Hes not giving up assets on a lost season. Eagles will be sellers if anything

Their season is lost. I am sure if they are interested in Cousins, they would just wait it out and sign him as a FA this offseason. I think the Vikings (as it stands right now although things could change) are the only team that makes sense.DanKD wrote: Thu Oct 29, 2026 9:06 pm Roseman is a smart one. Whatever your view of the topic is, here are some uncomfortable truths for some of you. Mendoza will never be ready enough until he hits the field as the starter. We will never really know what we have in him without him getting reps. He will make mistakes that likely cost us games. Our line will never be good enough to protect him all the time. He will get hit, and he will get hit hard, hard enough that you threaten the opposing player's family. He may even get injured. Our run game is dependent upon great QB play and great line play and that is not going to change. He does not yet need a big time receiver on the edge, he needs to work the middle of the field where his game really shined last year. He is a great back shoulder QB and the coaches know that which does not require a burner at receiver.
That said, there are also concerns. He had one good year at Indiana. His play at Cal was far more chaotic. Is he the product of improved coaching or a product of a maturing game? We will not know the answer to that until he is on the field.
And yes, I think we are getting close to seeing him take over. There may be a thought out there that Cousins next two starts could result in a trade but I still maintain that would be as a result of an injury to a contending team. I just don't see the Vikes being in play for him unless mighty mouse goes down again.

I agree that there isn't an obvious suitor for Cousins, and that an injury the next couple of weeks is the most likely scenario to have a contending team looking for a trade. Even then, I don't think there would be much trade compensation and it would really just be a move that presents Cousins with an opportunity to play for a contender and get the Raiders clear of a $10 million cash and cap hit next season.Attyla wrote: Fri Oct 30, 2026 6:58 am Whatever your view of the topic is, here are some uncomfortable truths for some of you. Cousins is probably in that 4-5 round range as a trade. The more valuable part of making that deal is it removes any and all concerns once we switch to Mendoza of Cousins going back in again should Mendoza falter. But to me that is such a small concern that it almost does not exist for me.chucker wrote: Fri Oct 30, 2026 7:21 am I agree that there isn't an obvious suitor for Cousins, and that an injury the next couple of weeks is the most likely scenario to have a contending team looking for a trade. I think there's also some value in giving Cousins an opportunity to compete instead of having him sit on the bench. He's done nice things for us and has been valuable in Mendoza's development - NFL players notice when you reward a player instead of having him sit and watch when he wants to play. Assuming of course that he would want to be traded. If he'd rather just support Mendoza, I would have no issues with that. I would like to see Mendoza play soon.Attyla wrote: Fri Oct 30, 2026 7:28 am Cousins is probably in that 4-5 round range as a trade. Agreed. I think treating players with respect and giving them an opportunity to shine are valuable things. And who knows what Cousins wants to do after it is all over. He may very well want to coach and getting that chance on the sidelines may have value. What I do not want is a bitter guy on the sidelines who creates drama like some other QB did when he got benched. I do not see Cousins as that guy though.chucker wrote: Fri Oct 30, 2026 7:44 am I think there's also some value in giving Cousins an opportunity to compete instead of having him sit on the bench. We all saw what Mendoza did during his playoff run for Indiana. A class player who played to win with a work ethic that does not stop. That is what will assist him to succeed. I contrast that with Ward who may have those traits but lacks a lot of football savvy and has absolutely horrible field vision. I think the Titans should have done what we are doing and let him learn from the sidelines. They should have kept Levis and made him the starter. If Ward fails, it will be because of how they have handled him and not his talent.

I don't know what's going on with Cam Ward. He looks like absolute ass. I know it's a tough transition but this is a 180 from what he was at Miami.Attyla wrote: Fri Oct 30, 2026 7:53 am Agreed. Part of it is maturity. He got the business from one of the beat writers and he did not handle it well. There have been reports that he is not doing the work off the field you need to put in to be successful. They spent on the line so it is not that, although Houston and the Jets got after him a bit. But he is no where near getting hit like last year but last year a lot of those hits and sacks were the result of him holding onto the ball too long and not processing the field quick enough. And he has a great running game and they upgraded the receivers so you have nobody to blame but yourself if all of that is true.DeathStar24 wrote: Fri Oct 30, 2026 8:09 am I don't know what's going on with Cam Ward. Personally, I a beginning to believe that Ward is just a college QB that will not translate his game to the next level. It is still early but there are fans in town that are now scouting the college ranks for his replacement.
