I will say we were absolutely Fool Gold. A number of people knew it at the time. While many fans were very indignant because everyone in the media wasn't on the Raider train. The 3 teams we beat are still a combined 3-16.RaiderandBulldog wrote: Sun Oct 25, 2026 11:00 pm I won’t say the Raiders were fools gold. You have to beat three NFl teams to be 3-0 but we have seen a major difference between us and the teams we want to be. The last 4 weeks we faced organizations and teams that compete for Super Bowls every year. The Raiders are not there.

Didn't say he was.ALLRAIDERWORLD21 wrote: Sun Oct 25, 2026 7:07 pm Kubiak is not going anywhere. I'm going to give him time to get his guys in the building, it's not an overnight process. He's not inept, just overwhelmed when it comes to teams that are upper echelon. The players like him, and he's not throwing inept family members to position coach. The game had not passed him by or is he unwilling to adapt to player strengths. We need to come out of our comfort zone and give a coach a chance, not named Gruden, to evolve and build a competitive team. Kubiak is learning just like everyone else.
Also, he is the guy you want for your young QB. Kubiak is taking his lumps right now, and no disrespect to Kurt, he's playing as best he can for the hand he's been dealt, but it's getting closer to the time Mendoza start taking his lumps and learning and evolving too.

Not really fools gold, there was zero hype about this team leading up to the season. We went out and won the one's we should have won and lost a couple hard fought battles against teams that should have beaten us. Hell, Mahomes even said we were a good team. In years past, he was never complimentary about our team even after a loss. We earned a bit of respect in how we hung in there with a couple good teams. We just ran into a couple buzz saws in the Patriots and the Rams. Those were last year's SB runner up and this year's favorite to win it all.Raider_Dave wrote: Mon Oct 26, 2026 7:46 am I will say we were absolutely Fool Gold. A number of people knew it at the time. I knew going into this season that we were not ready for the bright lights but that does not mean we have not gotten a lot more competitive. We are still going to lose more than we win, but we are not last year's disaster of a team. But yea, the first half yesterday had me saying "I am paying 30 bucks a month for this nonsense?"

People were getting excited because we thought our defense had improved (in addition to the offense putting up more points and getting better qb play).
In the first 2 games the defense gave up 13 and 14 points. The defense was getting turnovers. Young guys in the secondary looked promising. Even the Chiefs offense didn’t look good for most of the game (but after Seattle just dominated them that doesn’t mean as much now).
Then the defense gave up 45 to the Patriots which nobody expected and reality started to set in.
Looking back our early season opponents look weak, but at the time the games at the Chargers and Saints were supposed to be losses. I kept reading all week that we were facing an angry Chargers team that could make the playoffs and the Raiders weren’t going to beat a “real team” that was motivated.
If you said the Raiders would have 3 more wins than the Chargers at this point of the season, you would have gotten laughed at.

IMO the improvements will come before the record reflects it. Especially this year.
Parcells quote of “you are what your record says” is true to a point, but isn’t the be all end all IMO.
Again to me the closest parallel is the Lions over the last five years. And if it turns out that way for a rebuild I don’t think anyone will be that upset.
The problem is we’ve have decades of crap: we want success right now. Unfortunately the last five to six years can’t be undone overnight.

For those who watched the game.
Maxx did not really hit the stat line but he was disruptive of their game plan, an he has on numerous games this year.
I heard the announcing team say repeatedly "we have not mentioned his number many times today" and then repeatedly do so.
Maxx is not the problem, the tackling and the secondary is the problem. Watch the games

Maxx is a very good player and takes way too much criticism on here from those expecting him to win games by himself from a position that doesn't do that but our defense stinks regardless. If we can get 2 1sts you still got to do it

Maxx is the heart and engine of this team but he has never really taken over a game. People can say what they want but the TD to Jeanty after the Nakobe Dean pic puts the game within one score 8 point TD extra point with ten minutes left if one of the 2 point conversions is successful. Or if they just had kicked two extra points. Obviously they would have needed to get another stop but it's not junk time when it's a once score gane with more than a half a quarter to go.chucker wrote: Mon Oct 26, 2026 5:40 am The O got some points yesterday when the game was out of reach. The O got points vs the Pats when the game was out of reach. There was not really any garbage time in any other game. That's actually a pretty small part of a pretty good offense thusfar.
What I'm saying is the offense had a pulse enough to pull out a come back if the ball bounces differently. I'm also really impressed with Tucker's development lately. He's a solid slot and WR1A and can even hold down the no 1 with Brock/Mayer if we could just run the dam ball and Cousins let it fly more.

There is cause for optimism. If we can average 26 points per game with a journeyman QB, no running game and mediocre WR's, what will this offense look like when it's able to achieve some semblance of balance? As I said on another thread this team is only a handful of plays away from being 5-2. Tucker has been playing well but he could use some help.ALLRAIDERWORLD21 wrote: Mon Oct 26, 2026 7:55 pm People can say what they want but the TD to Jeanty after the Nakobe Dean pic puts the game within one score 8 point TD extra point with ten minutes left if one of the 2 point conversions is successful. Things will get discouraging if lay an egg in NY.

That ship has sailed. It was an overpay then, and a greater overpay now.DanKD wrote: Mon Oct 26, 2026 4:24 pm Maxx is a very good player and takes way too much criticism on here from those expecting him to win games by himself from a position that doesn't do that but our defense stinks regardless.
