The Off. Line - Complaints, Fixes, Questions, Draft
Mike Tice once said while coaching for the Raiders: “If you look at the offense like a fancy car, the offensive line is the engine. Even though we might have nice spinners and nice rims and tinted windows and some neat paint job, it doesn’t mean crap without the engine. If the engine’s not working, the car might look like a pretty nice car, but it’s a piece of crap.” And he was 100% right. I wish we had him back. Changes must be made on the O-line. Charles Grant is a very athletic lineman. We should give him some reps at right tackle. Bring back Powers-Johnson as the starter at center. Parham has got to go. Maybe we should consider moving Meredith back to guard. He did so well there last year.

Yep, we could have used him. But, everyone else passed on him too. If you want to see a roster full of later round picks and UDFAs, look at the 49ers. We used to be good at that with Ron Wolfe and Al Davis (before he became obsessed with moving and lawsuits).slick wrote: Mon Oct 19, 2026 4:55 pm Deone Walker was drafted the pick after Dont'te Thornton in the 4th round of the 25 draft.

I was looking up something yesterday, and if we count this as the first year Mark truly kept his fingers out of the pie, it would be the 4th year that the Raiders franchise, since it’s inception, didn’t have a Davis pulling strings. Mark fell so far from the apple tree that he’s a persimmon.RunOverByHubbard wrote: Fri Oct 23, 2026 6:54 am Yep, we could have used him. But, everyone else passed on him too. Yeah, safe to say he wasn't on hardly anyones radar here, if at all. As I just wrote in another thread about another player every team in the league passed on him at least 3 times including the bills who took 3 other players before him one of which was a DT. He was definitely on my radar. I liked Thornton but not in the 4th. I liked Walker from the 3rd round on. So 4th was a great time to take him. I believe Corleone also liked him. Possibly Attyla. There were a few on here who had him on their list for the mid round area16 to 88 wrote: Fri Oct 23, 2026 11:47 am Yeah, safe to say he wasn't on hardly anyones radar here, if at all. He's been a disappointment and oft injured...I don't think he's a good fit for our current blocking scheme...Wish we had the coaching and players to run a PBS like years ago...Never been a fan of ZBS even though many teams have had great success with it.

I watched the clip and while in most of those he gave Linderbuam fits maybe it's just a case of some guys just don't match up well with others? I would have to go back and watch the rest of the game and of course they played five other teams beside ours. The reason I point this out is the bills defense. Last in the league. And that's with one of the best offenses in the entire NFL protecting them. I could only imagine just how rancid they would be if they had an average offense, always heading out onto the field knowing they didn't stand a chance and being stuck out there because they can't get off the field even more so than now. We put 30 on them ourselves.

Maybe time for one of our other 3 guards to slide into that spot. Zuhn?

I liked him a lot...and I'm a big believer in building the trenches first.MexicanHulk wrote: Fri Oct 23, 2026 3:53 pm He was definitely on my radar. I liked Thornton but not in the 4th. I took RT Membou, CB Amos, FS Watts, RB Skattebo, OT Mbow, DT Walker, WR Ayomanor, CB Harris, SS Mickens, OG Colby & CB Bryant in 2025 NFL Draft.

Agreed...I really liked him too.rcraider wrote: Sat Oct 24, 2026 7:54 am Surprising that Francis Mauigoa is struggling, he was supposed to be another sure thing O lineman in the draft
I took Mendoza in my draft too but I truly would have traded down and gotten the best deal for him and selected a QB later and then again this year.

Respectfully, its a good thing you aren't running the team. The only reason Kubiak is here is bc of Mendoza.Coach dd 11 wrote: Sat Oct 24, 2026 8:00 am Agreed...I really liked him too.

Respectfully, I don't care what you think. That statement is also not true at all! You don't think one of the guys in this years NFL Draft could be better than Mendoza? You don't think building a solid OL and DL wouldn't be better for the team? Now, Mendoza could work out and be great and I'll be 100% wrong. Yet, he can also be another in the long line of Raider busts!
I can tell you what Bo doesn't know and that is football!

If you don't think Mendoza was the correct pick then that tells me all I need to know.
