NFL Trade Deadline

Unread post by LayneStaley »

Ok maybe this doesn’t need its own thread but the deadline is 5 weeks away. I know the next couple weeks will determine if we are buyers but let’s say we get to 5-2 do we make a move?

I really wish we still had Jakobi here but it sounds like a few guys might be available…

Brian Thomas Jr
Marvin Harrison Jr
Jerry Jeudy

Thoughts?

If Nelson becomes available we better pull the trigger. Nelson is one of the few exceptions in the NFL when it comes to paying guards.

I agree. I would just hope they give us a window to speak with him in order to resign him before the trade is made. He plays our weakest position (LG which is where the trash plays) and never misses games (4 in his entire career).

I’ve followed him since his ND days. It was clear even then he was that good.

So how high a draft pick do you think it would take to get Nelson?

I dont see any way they trade him. This talk started by a list of FAs. I don't see him hitting the market

The story I posted speculated a 2nd but bidding could bump it up to a 1st rounder. He is a rent-a-player (free agent next year).

I think it would take a 2nd and change. I could see the Colts trading him as the deadline approaches. They could easily be a tank team and they may not want to resign him ($$$$$). They may also know he has no desire to remain with the team. The package has to be better than a 3rd (which the Colts would get as a comp pick (his salary in the open market would warrant that).

He has been a STUD from the first day he stepped on the field. I remember he was the safest player in the draft and some did not think a guard should be drafted so high.

Nelson would be a nice book end around Linderbaum.

I'd do the #2 if he would sign a deal.

Mendoza deserves the best line we can provide.

Nelson would be a dream. Don't see it happen but no hesitation a 2nd and 4th.

Being a ND homer I was/am a bit biased. But Nelson has always been the real deal.

Generally, the correct move is to not draft guards high, he's one of the exceptions.
