i agree washington needs to play more if ashton is gimpy and missing running lanesSuperRaider wrote: Fri Oct 09, 2026 7:00 am If Jeanty not 100% then Raiders need to rest him; Washington is not a bad replacement while Jeanty get healthy….

It's early in year two and the OL still has run blocking issues but I'm beginning to wonder about his ability to find the holes. He seems to run into blockers and can't make defenders miss. Add in the issues with drops in the passing game and he certainly doesn't look like a RB worthy of a top 10 pick. That said I think we need to see what he can do with better blocking before declaring him a total bust.

In a small sample size, it seems Jeanty's balance and bounce ability isn't transitioning to the NFL as well as I expected. But between the crappy guard play and the injury its too soon to throw him under the bus.
Let him heal and give Washington 15-20 reps. With Washington it seems with enough shots he will break a big one.

Ankle injuries are especially difficult for RB's they often become a nagging injury. The medical staff knows best but there has been an obvious decline in his explosiveness,

On top of getting rolled up on his foot last game, I don't expect to see much of him Sunday if at all. Let it heal.

NFL RUN DEFENSE RANKINGS (As of Week 4):
- Dolphin's, 15th
- Chargers, 22nd
- Saints, 30th
- Chiefs, 5th
Ashton Jeanty did his best work against the best run defenses we've faced. Against a top 5 run defense, he averaged 4 ypc. The RB2 on our team had more carries going into the half. The reason why that changed in the second half, is because Ashton Jeanty was better. The only person keeping the backup from getting more carries, is the backup.

It hard to really say…if Jeanty been battling ankle injuries since the start of season could one of reason why he not done that well with running the ball….he might need to sit out a few games and get healthy….Rabidraider wrote: Fri Oct 09, 2026 8:43 am In a small sample size, it seems Jeanty's balance and bounce ability isn't transitioning to the NFL as well as I expected. I don’t know what we have in Washington but I think he would be a good replacement

Strange post. You are on a warpath over a guy who is a rookie and a 4th rounder over the top RB taken in his draft. Why? Because someone said the rookie should get more reps.mranquales wrote: Fri Oct 09, 2026 11:26 am NFL RUN DEFENSE RANKINGS (As of Week 4):

And you are praising 4 yards per carry. If he is really as good as you are saying, 4 yards per carry should be higher. 4 yards per carry is the average. And in the 4 games thus far, he is averaging 3.4 yards per carry. But you cherry pick stats so you can make points.
Whether due to injury or skill, he has not been good this year. Hell, last year he was mostly underwhelming. 3.7 yards per carry. But many gave him a pass because of Chip's offense. This is the one position where you make your bones the hard way. You hit holes and run hard. I want Jeanty to be great, but thus far he has been at or below average. The numbers do not lie.
As for Washington bouncing outside instead of the design play. That is also the position. If the hole is not there, you create. That is what the great one's do. Marcus is a perfect example of that. SB 18 he gets locked down, so he reverses course, bounces outside for 74 yards.
You are actually critical of a guy doing everything he can to create at the position. While the results are not there (he is a 4th round rookie for God's sake) you would rather bash the guy who is on the team you say you root for rather than admit that our run game in general is just not hacking it. And that STARTS with Jeanty since he is the starter.

And if you want to play the numbers game:
Jeanty 3.4 ypc
Washington 5.0 ypc
For the first 4 games with the largest sample available.
Is it a true barometer?, probably not, but its not nitpicking 15 or 30 minutes of game time.

All I know is that I constantly read all offseason about how we don't need a #1 wr and the receiving corps and offense will be fine without one. Didn't take long to see the effects of not having a legit threat outside of BowersKillerRaider30 wrote: Fri Oct 09, 2026 7:17 am With all the 12 and 13 personnel the Raiders run, even 14 when Zuhn is on the line, forces defenses into base crowding or stacking the box.
One reason that may have something to do with thier run game problems.
Id say spread 'em out but with our recievering core equivalent to low end #2s whats there to fear.
And yes, I think
Nailor, Tucker, Bech, White, Benson and Young, are ALL closer to a #3 receiver then they are a #1.
The Raiders need a #1 outside X receiver who can brake man coverage and force defenses into nickle and dime.
Make it happen Spy. Find a bargain before the deadline so we dont have to roll the dice on a high draft pick.

The way the draft fell to us, we were not able to get a WR1. I have zero problem with that because when our rookie finally plays, his best friend will be a strong run game (failure so far) and a great TE. We will address WR next year but we were never considered a team that would compete (surprise results) so fixing the D (success so far) and fleshing out the line (mixed bag so far) was the priority.Hellbound wrote: Sat Oct 10, 2026 6:35 am All I know is that I constantly read all offseason about how we don't need a #1 wr and the receiving corps and offense will be fine without one. If we are competitive this year without one, imagine this team next year with one.

We need to be better at WR to be a true contender. I didn't think this was our year to be a contender and I still don't, despite our 3-1 start. One true threat at WR will unlock more of Bowers because he won't need to be our "WR1" and he'll give defenses fits when there are more receiving threats to worry about. I'm still ok with our approach at WR because 2027 is still the goal IMO. Unfortunately we have had injuries at one of our weakest positions so it's gotten even weaker.

One thing to note is that the Seahawks had a slow start to their running game in their first few games last season. We might see some growth along the way.

I think everyone understood the idea that we couldn't fix everything in one offseason. It feels like we took BPA at positions of need and there wasn't a WR that fit the bill at the times we picked. My guess is that we go hard in FA and the draft for WRs in the offseason.Hellbound wrote: Sat Oct 10, 2026 6:35 am All I know is that I constantly read all offseason about how we don't need a #1 wr and the receiving corps and offense will be fine without one.
