The last time the Raiders won a Super Bowl I was 32 years old. A lot of water has passed under the bridge since we beat down the Redskins. I need — we all need— this new hope to be real and for the new coaching regime to take us back to the Promised Land. Handling Andy Reid’s in-game adjustments to his offense, which have killed us forever, will go a long ways towards showing our defense is for real. Giving Cousins has a clean pocket for most of the game especially the 4th quarter, will be crucial. The worst thing would be a blowout loss as that will bring too much negativity to this Forum and make it an unpleasant place to visit.

The Chiefs are 4.5 point favorites.

Because I do not expect us to win, I don't plan on being negative with the result regardless. We win, we prove that we did not just play three pretenders. We lose, we prove what we have said all off season, that it is a process and our cupboard was pretty bare going into this season. We get blown out, that happens. 31-0 was the most recent blowout last year. If that happens, I will be disappointed but I can be positive in a blowout when I don't expect a W to begin with.

The way this team fights and appears to believe in themselves I just don’t see a blow out. A loss might be probable but, it just feels different this year. This team is playing with pride and I don’t doubt they read about them being the underdogs week after week.
Guess we kinda deserve that label until we show steady, consistent improvement.

Viper wrote: Tue Sep 29, 2026 5:28 am Chiefs are a well coached team on both sides of the ball and we are in an infancy rebuild. Yes, so far we’ve surprised the league going 3-0 but I’m not sure Cousins can out duel Mahomes. Spags will have his defense applying pressure and the Chiefs have more weapons for the better Qb. Unfortunately, the ball needs to bounce our way, imo. Having Walker at running back this year is a clear upgrade and major challenge for our defense, almost unfair trying to stop an aggressive run game alongside a very good passing attack. Literally nobody outside our fan base expects a win, but if we pull it off, this is where the league gets put on notice.

This game will also give us a much better idea of how we can handle our upcoming, daunting schedule. A win vs the Chiefs would be a huge boost to our morale that I believe we’ve already started building.
Exactly. There's a lot of kool-aid going around right now and that's fine because we don't suck. This game is going to be the real barometer of where we're at. If it's competitive until the whistle blows but we lose, that's okay because it'll mean we can hang with the best in the league. If we win, then we can realistically start talking playoffs.

However, the O-line is still a work in progress and the running game is nowhere near where Kubiak wants it to be. Also, Shough is an okay QB who threw 4 TD passes against us. People can try to blame one player for that (Paola Mao), but none of those drives started in the red zone. IOW, the D-line didn't start getting pressure until the 4th quarter and the Saints out-rushed us.

We have serious deficiencies on both sides of the ball and the Chiefs don't.

Anything can happen on any given Sunday but I'm tempering my expectations.

While I don’t disagree with this and yes we are early on rebuilding here’s the thing: the Chiefs aren’t invulnerable this year. In fact the last two years they have been either lucky (2024) or sub part (2025).

Does this mean we’re ready to compete? Who knows but a LOT of fan bases are sleeping on the Raiders. None more so than the chiefs because we have been bad for so long.

The great thing for us is they expect to win because that’s what’s ALWAYS happened. It’s as if they can’t comprehend that we’re weren’t going to be horrible for forever.

Anything we get division wise this year is gravy. Yes it’s year one of the rebuild but this isn’t the same old Raiders.

There are a few posters on chiefs planet who are seeing it clearly: a team pointed in a right direction plenty of others who are dismissive.

Is it our time yet? Who knows but it’s coming, we can all feel it. More importantly the team is starting to believe it.

Stukes being back will be huge for us. He needs to be healthy and ready to go. I think the chance to use him as a weapon all over the place is what makes our defense go from average to good.

Expect Nakobe Dean and Quay walker to have a big impact in this game.

I am really going to try hard to watch this game with zero expectations either way. Mahomes aint Tyler Shough but like any QB, Mahomes is fallible under duress as we have shown in the past.

The only problem is we get that pressure in the 4th, how much damage will Mahomes and Walker do in Q 1-3?

It was a game plan. Previous games we were more aggressive throughout, this one seemed to have a different game plan. While they are learning the best plan of attack week in and out, we're then learning and reading what they are doing. A good team has different plans and evolve.

I will always be at a minimum show pressure/disguise type of guy. We played a bit more vanilla this game at least in the fronts we showed as the f[raiders_icon]cking TV camera angle hasn't evolved for decades.

I watch other camera angles in various post game ways, the angle I like which would be viewer friendly is a bit further back from the side with a slight angle towards the D and f[raiders_icon]ck me we can then see all 22, we can now see what the WR's/DB's are doing. It's so much better. It's like the league purposely holds back here for reasons. I want to be further educated and they truncate what we can see.

Don't think this is the case at all. I can't remember the last time I've seen so much positivity around the media, with everyone giving credit to our coaches and players for the "wildly entertaining" 3-0 start to the season.

I know people want to be the bad guys of the NFL, doing it with our middle fingers to the rest of the league, but that genuinely doesn't seem to be the case this tome around. People like our story this year as we're genuine entertainment.. sorry about that.

But for the Chiefs, f[raiders_icon]ck em. Walker and Mahomes will be hard to stop but they don't have a WR anywhere near as good as Olave so I think we should be able to stack the box, bet on Masses and Stokes on the outside and bring Walker/Mahomes down early.

We can't spot them three quarters or it will turn into a boat race. My youngest daughter called me yesterday to tell me how her first day of classes went. She brought the game up-she is tone deaf when it comes to the Raiders as she has heard every rant in the book from me over the years. However her observation was that these are not the Raiders she grew up watching.

That brought a smile to my face.

As I see it this year has already widely exceeded any of my expectations and rather than raising those expectations I am going to sit back and enjoy it.

That being said. f[raiders_icon]ck the Chiefs!

The other impression I get from their fan base is they believe they are just like the Pats and destined for some 20th year run. That because they have Mahomes that equals Brady.

Aside from a lot of things having to go right for that (Namely the AFC East being horrific during that run) there were peaks and valleys. It’s not assured.

Add to this I don’t really see a dominate team in the entire AFC right now. Yes there are some good teams but elite? Not seeing it as of yet.

To round it out, it’s foolish to think Mahomes is washed but 2018-23 Mahomes isn’t likely to be seen this year post knee injury? Could it happen? Sure but remains to be seen.

Either way, this season feels a lot like 2015; we’re building, the team is learning they can play with teams, not folding under pressure and T’ing off on Defense.

To quote Maxx “more is required.”
