I have a large pool of vitriol to let loose on this, but I've promised myself to have a non-conflict day.

If memory serves me right the seed of hate for Opo was born out of receiving a Tampa Bay style rather than a Miami style Cubano while on a vacation in Florida. Since then he gave up his dreams of being a professional Salsa dancer and turned his back on all things Cuban. Hasn’t watched “Scarface” since.

I thought intitally it was just your typical endorsement for US Bank like so many other athletes get with so many other companies. The little I have read up on it, Mendo apparently began this venture while at Cal or shortly after getting his business degree and essentially built this up. Admitedly I dont know all the details but if he was my kid, Id be proud of him.raider_kin wrote: Thu Sep 24, 2026 2:05 pm Oppo has a lot of issues, best to just let him work them out on his own

I wasn't expecting to see that.GoodTimeCharlie wrote: Thu Sep 24, 2026 4:41 pm If memory serves me right the seed of hate for Opo was born out of receiving a Tampa Bay style rather than a Miami style Cubano while on a vacation in Florida. Too bad he couldn't make a rap song. Its cool to see an athlete do something useful with their spare time. The kid seems like an A+ human regardless of how his career turns out

Las Vegas Raiders rookie quarterback Fernando Mendoza is taking his financial interests to a new audience with an educational video series for Gen Z.
The No. 1 overall pick in the 2026 NFL Draft has launched “Finance with Fernando.” The series focuses on practical money management and financial responsibility.
Mendoza introduced the project with an energetic message.
“I’m Fernando Mendoza, pro quarterback. But my true passion is fiscal responsibility,” Mendoza said. “So get pumped for my educational video series, Finance with Fernando.”
The series is a collaboration with U.S. Bank, the institution for which Mendoza serves as “Chief Financial Playmaker.” His background gives the project a personal connection.
Mendoza studied at UC Berkeley’s Haas School of Business before leading Indiana to a national championship and winning the Heisman Trophy. He also completed financial internships during his college career. His content will cover topics relevant to young adults, including 401(k) contributions and other basic financial decisions.
The videos can be found across social media platforms.
The series fits Mendoza’s unusual professional image. During college, the quarterback became known for his corporate-style LinkedIn posts in addition to his football accomplishments. Now, he is using that persona to make financial education more accessible.
“Finance! Finance! A practical guide for Gen Z to make the most of their money,” Mendoza said in the promotional video.
He then highlighted retirement planning directly.
“Get up! Your 401(k) contributions!” Mendoza said. “And the kicker? I’m giving away the ultimate prize.”
The project arrives as Mendoza waits for his opportunity on the field. Las Vegas has started veteran Kirk Cousins at quarterback during its 2-0 start. So, Mendoza’s current role makes the timing useful. He can develop behind Cousins while building a public profile beyond his playing career.
Mendoza’s financial education campaign also aligns with the responsibilities facing young professional athletes. NFL careers can be short, making financial planning important from the beginning.
Mendoza’s approach gives the Raiders rookie another platform as he develops within the team structure. His football career remains the priority, but his financial interests are becoming part of his identity.

It’s honestly a sad state of affairs. Why’s he worried about money? Just expect that shit will keep rollin’ in. And where’s the grip of baby mommas? Get Diggs on the line to tell you how it’s done. Also, gotta have a Bugatti with a trunk full of guns and drugs or you ain’t “real”.Xramfan wrote: Thu Sep 24, 2026 7:59 pm If he could slap some bitches around and drive drunk waving a firearm around......hed have the happiest mug photo ever in the NFL
Kids got a lot of growin’ down to do. Enough with the good sense and early maturity already.

NFL player with a hobby, now that is a first. As long as it does distract from his prep I am OK with it. I do not want to hear "he is playing video games all day and all night" kind of schtick. I have had enough of that kind of thing.

It's cool we have freedom to do what we like if it doesn't harm others.DanKD wrote: Thu Sep 24, 2026 6:57 pm Too bad he couldn't make a rap song. Its cool to see an athlete do something useful with their spare time. The kid seems like an A+ human regardless of how his career turns out
Be it business, education or recreation.
His rap song was his vest picture with Cousin's.

I think I know where many are going, but he's way ahead in off field commits than Maxx had as a rookie and possibly more than Maxx has now and he did all that not taking even one snap for the books in the NFL. Kid needs to focus on football, like Maxx needs to. /s

with the raiders being 2-0 i see fernando best op being now mid season (wk8-9), if we go 3-0 after this week it pushes us a few more games back...injury can change this quickly
