Kubiak needs to stick with the original plan to bring Mendoza along gradually. This year's Raider's with their projected starters including Cousins should be a huge improvement over last year's crew.
They simply must trust their coaches and the scheme on both sides of the ball to get that improvement.

No one should be worried about Mendoza. Just remember all of the great quarterbacks from the past who had really shitty, awful rookie years, Manning, Elway too many more. He will be fine eventually.

But i thought mendoza needed to go 13 of 14 with 11 checkdowns to show how great he is in the preseason

It's impossible to believe/trust anything the talking heads say these days. Everything's an absolute that seems written for them rather than them forming their opinion based on what they've observed.
We keep up with every bit of news, no matter how mundane. We see every play. The point is that we know more about our team than any talking head. Fitzpatrick's take is just him being assigned that opinion.

Fitz was one of the brightest guys out there, and he went a long way with marginal talent because he was really bright. I think his opinion, as someone who did it for a long time, has merit. Kind of like taking the opinions of Brady as having merit is true. Mendoza will be fine once the pass protection issues are resolved and he perfects being under center.
There is a very obvious parallel though. Both those guys are really bright and so is Mendoza.

Yeah but the best of the best aren't all that much better at predictions.Attyla wrote: Sat Sep 05, 2026 10:15 am Fitz was one of the brightest guys out there...

I really don't feel any different if he said what he did, said the opposite or said nothing.
It's all blah blah, we've heard it all before, we are simply at "show me" at this point with the entire organization.
Mendoza we still think has everything needed to be great, nothing changed, but he has to do it.
And it will be later than sooner it seems.

But that does not mean we should not consider their perspectiveSkullCrusher wrote: Sat Sep 05, 2026 12:38 pm Yeah but the best of the best aren't all that much better at predictions.

We consider a lot of things, but to me that's just talk show hyperbole.Attyla wrote: Sat Sep 05, 2026 1:00 pm But that does not mean we should not consider their perspective

Yep. I don't even watch sports entertainment shows anymore because the key word in that title is "entertainment."SkullCrusher wrote: Sat Sep 05, 2026 3:56 pm We consider a lot of things, but to me that's just talk show hyperbole.
I hope like hell that Fitz is right to be so high on Mendoza, but I give his opinion zero weight.
