Possible AOC trade with Lions
I just got a message through my phone thru facebook that there may be interest in a Aidan O'Connell trade with the Lions. Don't know if true haven't seen anywhere else

That's not exactly a recipe for success. I don't hate the guy but I'm not losing sleep should he move on elsewhere. Guys like him are a dime a dozen.ALLRAIDERWORLD21 wrote: Tue Aug 25, 2026 2:39 pm My point exactly though. He didn't do anything dumb to mess up the no hitter or low scoring game. He doesn't make huge mistakes in a close games (non practice), and a team with a playoff caliber defense who loses their starter can win with O'Connell. He can hold it down and he can out up numbers on occasion. The Black Friday game in KC he was going toe to toe with Mahomes and was FG away from taking a late lead..this a team that went to the SB that year. Im not saying hes a HOFer, I know he's inconsistent and lacks mobility but he's a solid backup QB who can hold it down if you you have a good team around him and your starter misses some time.

O’Connell is a feel good story: walk on (as I recall) at Perdue and made the leap to the NFL.
His issue has always been the speed of the game. Most often he recognizes where to go with the ball but too late.
The best description of him? “He knows all the answers to the test but turns it in after the class is over.”

I want to keep Aidan. That being said, he still is not a good QB. He has not improved one iota and still can not feel pressure, has no pocket awareness, and can't go thru progressions. I will not even get into the fact that he runs like he has a steamer in his pants. Having Geno here last season makes him look much better than he actually is.

Aidan is definitely not a good QB. He has not developed and not through lack of effort, he just doesnt have the talent.
But neither are most rostered nfl quarterbacks. Almost all of them suck.
What Aidan has proven is he can start nfl games without melting down or losing your team games. But hes not winning you any games either.

Slow news week when the third stringer on the team gets 4 pages for a spec piece about a trade.
