Hell, aside from us needing an X WR I would be fine with NOTHING but line next time.Hellbound wrote: Sat Aug 22, 2026 3:07 pm Agreed. I mean i wouldn't be mad if they drafted only linemen and wrs next year and called it a day

They were banged up a lot at WR and he had the chance to shine but did very little. He isnt bad but nothing special. Like you said 1000 yards isn't much of an achievement any moreRabidraider wrote: Sat Aug 22, 2026 3:47 pm He was behind Jefferson and Addison. He will double his touches from his Minny days.
With 17 games, 59 yards per game is 1000. Not a biggy like it used to be.

We’re not going to get a WR1 this year and that’s fine. We are in total re-building this season, but we have a ton of decently talented players from the past 2-3 drafts who need to play(especially on the OL and DB) We’re not going to be good this year but we need to see what we have and I’m optimistic about turning this thing around quickly.
I have to assume we’re going to be bad enough to have an (outside) shot at Smith. He’s been the most dominant WR in CFB over the past two seasons, literally lining up ahead of Egbuka ( top 20 pick) and Tate (top 5 pick). There’s a a lot of hyperbole around draft time but he’s legit the best WR since Julio, if not better. He’s the Adrian Peterson of WRs who could have played in the NFL at 18
Cam Coleman should be in our range (top 10) and it’s highly that he likely finishes with a higher grade than the two top 10 picks at WR (Tate and Tyson) from this draft
After that it’s too hard to predict this far out.
What we need out of the WR position is to figure out who’s going to be a role player in the future for us. We’re going to need a slot guy and a WR2 out of our guys. 2 of Tucker, Nailor, Bech, Benson and I guess Thornton ideally show they can be reliable role players. Assuming we draft a legit WR1 that guy and Bowers are going to eat a massive amount of targets, so you just need guys who can do their roles in the offense well at the NFL level

A factor that contributed to our abysmal pass protection last season was that our WR corps consistently struggled to get separation. Opposing defensive backs routinely shut them down (see the first game against the Chargers). Having a franchise TE and another very good one in Mayer does help and our personnel should align better with Kubiak's offense as opposed to Chip Kelly's helter skelter play calling.

6-foot-2, 228-pound running back who runs a 4.33 40 yard dash is historically off the charts. Plus an excellent receiver.HesterLayes wrote: Sat Aug 22, 2026 7:53 pm To the post that said they wouldn’t be surprised if Washington ends up number one…come on
Don't be surprised what Washington can accomplish.

True but were no where close to a SB so those things can wait i guess.mstrbass2000 wrote: Sat Aug 22, 2026 11:46 am sure kubiak can scheme open wrs, he did vs the texans only to watch malik drop 2 wide open passes for 1st downs ...one killing a scoring drive...wr is a PREMIUM position for a reason buffalo and new england could have won super bowls if they had a wr1 last yr both teams paid and traded for wr1's this season
I have us winning 5 games next year so I expect a top 10 draft pick.
WR/DT/DE/whatever this season reveals as a must need.

I’m with you, he’s gonna shine. I love that we’ve got a 1-2 punch, but the biggest difference between the two is in the open field. When Jeanty has THAT much daylight in front of him, there’s not a chance in hell that one lone tackler brings him down from behind.DanKD wrote: Sat Aug 22, 2026 9:17 am I think Jeanty surprises some people. He was so good in college and even last year had good yards after contact. He will be great if we can block for him.

Also they drafted Addison after they already had Nailor, so they were clearly still looking for their #2. I thought they’d aim higher in the off season at the position.FLORIDARAYDAH wrote: Sat Aug 22, 2026 5:20 pm They were banged up a lot at WR and he had the chance to shine but did very little. I don’t see it either, but I’m not discounting the possibility that he could make it a discussion at some point.HesterLayes wrote: Sat Aug 22, 2026 7:53 pm To the post that said they wouldn’t be surprised if Washington ends up number one…come on

It seems like this organization is finally doing a rebuild the right way. We have some pieces but not nearly enough. They tried trading an older piece for draft capital. They've signed solid, younger players that can play, but more than likely be depth options in the future. Spytek and company have said they want to build for sustained success, not just be a flash in the panKillerRaider30 wrote: Sat Aug 22, 2026 8:18 pm True but were no where close to a SB so those things can wait i guess.

Isn't Washington faster than Jeanty? I think they are both going to be incredible for us with Baby Ironhead leading the way. Hopefully our shit line can help them out a little bit.GoodTimeCharlie wrote: Sat Aug 22, 2026 9:57 pm I’m with you, he’s gonna shine. Washington, 4.3 speed in shorts. Not complaining but he had 2 breakaway runs so far and was caught from behind on both. I would pump the breaks on him surpassing Jeanty.

I was about to point out the same thing, and he was easily caught from behind. As far as "4.3 speed", that's why I question the difference in running in shorts and a t-shirt vs running in full pads and uniform.Grumpy13 wrote: Sun Aug 23, 2026 6:28 am Washington, 4.3 speed in shorts. Just like “Grumpy 13” references, Washington is clocked as faster. I wasn’t basing Jeanty not going down due to speed. Jeanty doesn’t go down because his balance is extraordinary. That and he’s just a beast when there’s contact. Thrives in that situation. Some of it’s innate, but a lot of it is in the training. Jeanty’s training is on another level. I imagine some of it will rub off, but at the same time, what makes this 1-2 punch special is how good they are in their own ways.RI RAIDER wrote: Sun Aug 23, 2026 6:22 am Isn't Washington faster than Jeanty?
