Price of fast food is crazy now
I went to Chick Fil A today because I hadnt been there in years and figured it was close enough to where I was to grab some. I go there so rarely that I always get extra when I do, for the next day or whatever. Anyways, I got a 4 piece tender (not meal) and 2 12 piece nuggets (not meal) to go, that was it. $29.39. The tenders are also much smaller than they used to be, I saw them first because they were on top of the bag, and didnt recognize them as tenders at first, I thought they were unusually large nuggets. The nuggets seem to be the same size, size of a medium ice cube. It seems like each time I go there I forget why I havent gone back there in so long. I usually look for coupons before I get any fast food and now I remember why. Fast food is incredibly expensive now.

yep, blue cities mandating 20 bucks an hour with benefits and healthcare for menial work is a major cause of the cost of living going up so high, it also forces others businesses to pay more for labor to compete for labor causing the price of good to go higher for all and dont get me started on the cost of housing which at the core is finite

Yeah the Bay Area California. I ended up eating it all last night, it wasnt much at all. Maybe the 24 nuggets and 4 tenders was like .5 to .75 lb combined. I wasnt even full and im not a big eater at all. Ill never go there again, ill stick to places that send out coupons from now on.

Alameda County was trying to get minimum wage up to $30 as a ballot measure but I think they just came up short of signatures. Interesting how so many believe that "minimum wage" is synonymous to "living wage".mstrbass2000 wrote: Thu Aug 13, 2026 8:31 am yep, blue cities mandating 20 bucks an hour with benefits and healthcare for menial work is a major cause of the cost of living going up so high, it also forces others businesses to pay more for labor to compete for labor causing the price of good to go higher for all and dont get me started on the cost of housing which at the core is finite

living wage is bs all it does is cause more inflation and higher cost of living on top of that businesses are squeezed to f[raiders_icon]ck especially restaurants that have to compete vs mcdees paying 20 dollar an hour...profit margins for restaurants are small (5-8%) add in regulations and high wages plus benefits strangle em to deathXramfan wrote: Thu Aug 13, 2026 8:31 pm Alameda County was trying to get minimum wage up to $30 as a ballot measure but I think they just came up short of signatures. The McDonalds big breakfast was a lot cheaper when I was buying them 12 years ago but $7.00 this morning got me scrambled eggs, sausage patty, hash browns, 3 pancakes and an English muffin. 2 pkts butter, 2 pancake syrups, and strawberry preserves pkt for the muffin.
After paying for a ham and cheese omelet with coffee hash browns and toast at another sit down restaurant at $21.50 (plus tip) I'll take the McD's anytime now!
P.S. Wife still refuses to eat out anymore. Told her I still will!

It destroys peoples savings also, especially people who saved their whole lives. Now the money they saved through "doing without" is worth less because a high tide raises all ships. Minimum wages raise the prices on absolutely everything when they are increased. Every public service here is being taxed to the absolute limit. The water company charges 100 bucks a month just for the sewage part, not counting how much water you use on top of that. The garbage sanitation service can raise rates any time they want, because everyone must have sanitation. The person with over flowing trash bins every week is charged the same as the person who only puts out garbage once a month. Bridge tolls, Gasoline, Beef, everything has gotten crazy expensive. Dont even get me started on medical insurance costs as you get older.mstrbass2000 wrote: Fri Aug 14, 2026 7:19 am living wage is bs all it does is cause more inflation and higher cost of living on top of that businesses are squeezed to f[raiders_icon]ck especially restaurants that have to compete vs mcdees paying 20 dollar an hour...profit margins for restaurants are small (5-8%) add in regulations and high wages plus benefits strangle em to death

My go to on early morning road trips have always been McDees bacon egg and cheese biscuit. But the last couple of years I’ve always been disappointed. About a week ago I tried BKs bacon egg and cheese croissant and it was damn good lol.mstrbass2000 wrote: Sun Aug 16, 2026 4:21 pm yeah, mcdees is still pretty decent on some prices ...i still enjoy the Croissan’wich from burger king with taters and a coffee too...quick tasty bkfast

I get the one with sausage. More meat against those thin small bacon pieces they use. Really hard to eat while driving tho!Xramfan wrote: Sun Aug 16, 2026 11:27 pm My go to on early morning road trips have always been McDees bacon egg and cheese biscuit. The terminology they throw out like "living wage" is beyond bizarre. I've spent a big portion of my life working for companies and around acquaintances that expenditures to me are outrageous. Newish car and car payment, latest cell phone, fast food is a large chunk of their diet, restaurant and drinks, going to see a concert or sporting event, drugs, the list goes on and on. Standing there with a Starbucks in there hand that they have pretty much everyday... "I just can't seem to get ahead in life". SMH.

Ooops. Got off track. It's a rare day when we eat out. 99% of the time all our meals or home cooked. If we it out I'll have something a little different like Jimboy's or if I'm in Los Gatos the happy hound. Love sitting there eating there hot dogs looking at the LG mountains in the distance and yeah, FF prices aren't what they used to be...
