Cousins signs with Raiders
I don't love this. I get it, but I don't love it.

I think Fitzgerald is gonna be a good coach for you guys. He did wonders at Northwestern with the talent that was available to him. Im cautiously optimistic on Whittingham for us. I never liked the Moore hire so thank God that fiasco is overAtlasffa wrote: Tue Jun 09, 2026 4:14 pm Last year's football fandom for me was the worst ever, Raiders and Spartans... Wasn't sure I would come back to post, or watch another football game ever, BUT, OMG, Kirk Cousins got signed to the Raiders. And Jalen Speedy Nailor. And Connor (son of Ironhead) Heyward. Three Spartans on the Raiders team?! How could I not be back. So both my teams have new coaches and here we go again... And I am forever thankful that, come November, MSU BBall will restore my optimism.

So far, so good. Fan base loves him, got some great assistants, recruiting has been okay--he fits in like a SPARTAN. Smith just didn't fit--too quiet, too calm, too passive--too much vibe of Oregon State and not enough Big Ten FIGHT. The game with UM completely overwhelmed him. He learned the meaning of rivalry. Very happy Fitz joined us.Hellbound wrote: Tue Jun 09, 2026 6:16 pm I think Fitzgerald is gonna be a good coach for you guys. He did wonders at Northwestern with the talent that was available to him. Let’s face it, at Cousins age, some here, myself included, didn’t handle ourselves in a manner close to what he does, and he’s constantly in the spot light where any and everything he says or does is over analyzed. At his age, personally, I was solely on the me train with no care in the world what others thought of me. Selfish. Self centered. All about me. I just don’t see it in Cousins and find it a hard sell to think he will be a bad vibe in the locker room or on the field.
Now, is Cousins an above average Qb at this stage of his career? A bit more than doubtful in my mind. However, he could be invaluable to a kid coming into the league with zero NFL experience. In my opinion a better influence than even Brady. He just seems humble, something nobody would have ever described me as at his age. I’m not worried about him starting over Mendoza as it will most likely be short lived while figuring out the O line and scheme.
To think Cousins will be a locker room cancer is listening to the part of the brain that appeals to eating a box of crayons.

LOL. Kirk didn't suddenly become something is isn't because he got a big bag. He got a big bag because of who he is--a high quality individual who grew up with the parental guidance you all think is so important to being a good person.DanKD wrote: Fri Jun 26, 2026 11:06 am Oh I dont know, if someone wants to give me 300 million im willing to be the classiest mfer around.

Yup, it's not his fault so many teams, including the Raiders, gave him a bag of money. The KC venom is nearly as silly and over the top as it is for AOC. Hard to justify how some can on one hand, view our new management as such a positive sign for orchestrating the development of our youngsters/rebuild, yet they view that very same management as completely brain dead when it comes to unimportant positions/roster spots who are not critical for our future success.

I've heard people say he's washed which I tend to agree with, but haven't heard anyone say it's his fault for making 331.5 mil in his career...which is a stout number all things considered lol

Well I suppose that means it's someone else's fault then...like maybe the people who paid him?pfish57 wrote: Fri Jun 26, 2026 5:22 pm I've heard people say he's washed which I tend to agree with, but haven't heard anyone say it's his fault for making 331.5 mil in his career...which is a stout number all things considered lol

I remember whenever we faced a team with Cousins on it, he was a threat to us going in. It was never thought of as a walk in the park when facing a team where Cousins was going to be the QB. Even if we won, we never went in thinking it was a gimmie because he was semi dangerous.
