We get it he's a rook, but f[raiders_icon]ck me if I'm still not doing 110% to get him on the field asap.
It's like they are already underselling Mendoza to us and over selling the other 2 QB's, gtfo.

My stance is and will remain, he's playing if we have an good line, otherwise Curt can take the damage.
I don't think anyone is really under selling or over selling anything. You alluded to it yourself, in that the reasoning for FM starting or not starting opening day is predicated on the cohesiveness and performance of our new and unproven OL.

...if and when the coaching staff is fully convinced that the OL is greatly improved over last year and that FM is ready, he will get the start. But until then, there is absolutely no need to be so hasty and throw our future QB into a bad situation that increases the odds of him getting hurt and/or having his confidence damaged.

It should be "The Raiders want Fernando Mendoza to do everything possible to keep Kirk Cousins off the field."
Bro give it a rest. Cousins will start 4 or 5 games. Deal.

It's business. His agent is working out a contract. He [Mendoza] isn't holding out and going to strip clubs like our last first round QB. I have no doubt it will work itself out sooner rather than later.

No need to really overthink it or stress, but that doesn't change the fact that it's a bit odd. Draft rounds and pick slots basically at this point have a pay scale. There's not a lot to haggle with. He can tell his agent to just get it done. Raiders fans especially can find it odd due to the fact that the last #1 pick they had didn't have a contract until into the season. & No, I'm not comparing him or the situation specifically to Jamarcus Russell. Only the pick number & lack of signed contract

Me hanging out, phone chimes
me "hello?"
Fernando "Hey man, reaching out to the Raider nation to gauge interest"
me "cool man, what's up?"
Fernando "I want to screw with someone as a joke, any ideas?"
me "hold out, it will piss off Rich"
Fernando "Consider it done, thanks"
me "no worries, and Fernando, hold out until the day before camp, that will really set him off"
Fernando "It will be my pleasure, talk later"
me "later dude"

I get calls like that all the time.

I would have expected Mendoza to have signed by now. However, it's not really a big deal that he hasn't. He hasn't missed a thing, and won't miss a thing. This is likely all from his agent working for timing of bonus payments and offset provisions and Mendoza is likely leaving it to his agent while he focuses on football. Caleb Williams didn't sign until July 16 after he was drafted, and didn't miss anything.

The amounts are pretty much set. I keep reading the only hold up is getting the signing bonus all at once or in payments.

He'll be signed soon enough, but 20+ years of football trauma can't help but trigger a disaster warning in my gut.
