The Off. Line - Complaints, Fixes, Questions, Draft
Mike Tice once said while coaching for the Raiders: “If you look at the offense like a fancy car, the offensive line is the engine. Even though we might have nice spinners and nice rims and tinted windows and some neat paint job, it doesn’t mean crap without the engine. If the engine’s not working, the car might look like a pretty nice car, but it’s a piece of crap.” And he was 100% right. I wish we had him back. Changes must be made on the O-line. Charles Grant is a very athletic lineman. We should give him some reps at right tackle. Bring back Powers-Johnson as the starter at center. Parham has got to go. Maybe we should consider moving Meredith back to guard. He did so well there last year.

I don't disagree, but maybe they didn't want to reach for a tackle if they didn't see the right one(s). Gonna be a 2 plus year rebuilderickench wrote: Mon May 11, 2026 5:49 pm Too many guards and not enough tackles. That's why the Trey Zuhn pick stinks. He has the same problem that Robert Gallery had. His arms are too short to play offensive tackle.

Exactly, no reason at all to believe that the Raiders are gonna completely turn things around in 1 off season. After witnessing what went down last year, our opinion of this year's squad should be tempered.raider_kin wrote: Tue May 12, 2026 9:17 am I don't disagree, but maybe they didn't want to reach for a tackle if they didn't see the right one(s). Will we be better? Yes. But we had so many holes/needs to fill, it won't be a quick fix. Even if only 1/2 of our new acquisitions make the roster I seriously doubt they'll all be starters and even for the ones who end up starting, there will be a large learning curve for some of them.
I can see us struggling a bit to start the season but improving markedly as the season goes on.
Still thinking 8-9 wins.

8-9 wins is a big turnaround. It's double our win total from last season. Getting to about .500 is a good start.raidersince63 wrote: Tue May 12, 2026 10:04 am Exactly, no reason at all to believe that the Raiders are gonna completely turn things around in 1 off season. Yeah, me thinking 8-9 wins may be somewhat homeriffic, but I believe it is attainable. And if we do win that many I also believe we'll make the PS the following year and maybe even make a run at the division.RunOverByHubbard wrote: Tue May 12, 2026 10:13 am 8-9 wins is a big turnaround. Right now it seems there is more parity in the AFC West than there has been in a while. Denver should be about the same but SD and KC have slipped, IMO...so I don't think a 3-3 record within the division is out of reach.

our offense and coaching was atrocious last yr, just improving on that would get us to 6 wins, now add in the upgrades at lb,secondary and olineRunOverByHubbard wrote: Tue May 12, 2026 10:13 am 8-9 wins is a big turnaround. I love our draft picks in Rds 1, and 4-7.
We got good players in Rds 2-3, but in my humble opinion not taking McDonald and Dunker in Rds 2 and 3 was a mistake. Not that the other positions weren’t positions of need, but fortifying the Lines should have been the priority.

So you believe McDonald & Dunker would have been better for The Raiders team than Stukes, Crawford & Zuhn
Not arguing.

I think Stukes will play FS replacing Palo-Mao. I’m with you on Miller, dude shot up draft boards the last 3 months leading up to the draft.erickench wrote: Tue May 12, 2026 11:38 am I wish Blake Miller had fallen to us in the 2nd round. I'm not high on the Treyden Stukes pick too. We needed a free safety. He's basically a slot corner.

That's just a projection. He hasn't had much experience playing free safety.BoJacksonRules wrote: Tue May 12, 2026 11:41 am I think Stukes will play FS replacing Palo-Mao. I’m with you on Miller, dude shot up draft boards the last 3 months leading up to the draft.

If he's not a tackle.... why does the pick stink?erickench wrote: Mon May 11, 2026 5:49 pm Too many guards and not enough tackles. That's why the Trey Zuhn pick stinks. He has the same problem that Robert Gallery had. His arms are too short to play offensive tackle.
Gallery was drafted as a can't miss left tackle. Zuhn was drafted 91 as a guard. Gallery was a fairly good guard with his short arms.

Perhaps, but we already brought in a DB to play the Nickel, so who knows, just what I see as the best use of out talent in the secondary.erickench wrote: Tue May 12, 2026 4:57 pm That's just a projection. He hasn't had much experience playing free safety.
