All of this crap, his drafts and yet he still has a fan clubheavyD wrote: Fri Apr 10, 2026 6:07 am I was one of the fans that was never on board with his hiring given all that power. I followed his career in Tampa Bay and was fully aware that he was absolutely terrible at assessing talent. This article shouldn't really be overly surprising for fans as it was clear that Mayock was a puppet GM and that Gruden's never had a vision or plan. We talk a lot about his drafting which is amongst the worst ever but free agency was also a total disaster as he just threw money around for veteran players without putting a lot of thought into them being good fits. As bad as all these signings are I look at the Drake signing as an example of a totally unnecessary and random luxury signing for a 3rd down back like a toy he just had to have despite the acquisition cost. While there's no doubt to me that the NFL purposely leaked the emails to get Gruden out of the NFL, I also acknowledge that they did Mark Davis and Raiders fans a huge service here as this organization was never going to move forward under Gruden.

2019:
OT Trent Brown (four years, $66 million): started 16 games over two seasons, salary dumped to NE
WR Tyrell Williams (four years, $44.3 million): started one game over two seasons, cut
S LaMarcus Joyner (four years, $42 million): moved to CB, benched in Year 2, cut
2020:
LB Cory Littleton (three years, $35.3 million): suffered drastic decline in play
LB Nick Kwiatkoski (three years, $21 million): lost starting job after one season
EDGE Carl Nassib (three years, $25.3 million): four sacks in 19 games
QB Marcus Mariota (two years, $17.6 million): 28 pass attempts with Raiders
DT Maliek Collins (one year, $6 million): one QB hit in 504 snaps
2021:
EDGE Yannick Ngakoue (two years, $26 million): two sacks in five games
RB Kenyan Drake (two years, $11 million): playing almost exclusively as receiving back, averaging 2.4 yards per carry

I watch money. I watch it leave my account every time my wife grabs my debit card.Attyla wrote: Thu Apr 09, 2026 11:28 am Again, I don't owe you a damn thing. And I don't watch money, I watch football. Your just a bit too obtuse for me to waste any more time on you.
However, she understands the best time to do so is when I’m distracted watching football games.

the new valuation based on the purchase price of ownership pct sold values the team at 11.1 billion ...this is the first time we have won a battle for sought after young head coach, this is also gonna be the first time in long time we drafted a new face of the franchise player in fernando and had tom brady and spytek pushing buttons while mark takes a backseatGoodTimeCharlie wrote: Thu Apr 09, 2026 3:52 pm Here is the team’s value vs. the product on the field, i.e., the football team.
2011, $761M, 8–8
2012, $785M, 4–12
2013, $825M, 4–12
2014, $1.0B, 3–13
2015, $1.43B, 7–9
2016, $2.1B, 12–4 (Oakland Coliseum)
2017, $2.4B, 6–10
2018, $2.9B, 4–12
2019, $3.0B, 7–9
2020, $3.1B, 8–8
2021, $3.4B, 10–7
2022, $5.1B, 6–11
2023, $6.2B, 8–9
2024, $6.7B, 4–13
2025, $7.7B, 3–14
There are owners with a worse winning percentage. Two of them. David Tepper, .310, bought the Panthers for 2.275B, the Panthers are now valued at 5.9B. Jimmy Haslam, .333, bought the Browns 987M, now worth 4.6B. For curiosity’s sake, the Cowboys who are the NFL’s highest valued franchise at 13B, won their last Super Bowl while valued at 272M.
An NFL team’s value rising is an inevitability. In fact, no NFL team has lost value in the modern era (since 1970). As you can also see, a team’s value has no correlation whatsoever with the product on the field, the football team, wins and losses, which in my opinion as a football fan are the important parts of my relationship with a football team.
I am not without hope though…
the raider fanbase deserves to see the franchise rise from the ashes of time 20 yrs of wandering the desert is enough

oakland was a shit hole for the team...no control of anything plus a city full of politicos looking to push profesional sport out in order to line the pockets of donors and politicos ...to think a lot of the fanbase wanted mark to stay in oakland and not move to vegasSuperRaider wrote: Fri Apr 10, 2026 1:35 am Well I have lose count; but Mark Davis in last 5 years has pretty much spent over 100 million on coaches salary or more….he could have never done that when in Oakland…

I always wondered who Mayok would of drafted without Grudens semen all over the picks.
I liked Mike, I thought he would of made better choices.

Man I’d say almost anyone other than Gruden would’ve made better picks than Gruden. Some truly head scratching stuff.Rabidraider wrote: Fri Apr 10, 2026 7:59 am I always wondered who Mayok would of drafted without Grudens semen all over the picks.

The 2 worst imo were Ferrell and leatherwood, if for no other reason than there being obvious choices… at the same positions. With Ferrell it was generally consensus if we were taking edge - Hynes Allen was easily the best one left. With Leatherwood - Darrisaw was also general consensus best remaining OT.
Which is crazy that Gruden could’ve basically run his drafts from a couple fan forums and done substantially better

Arnette was really bad as well, and while it did not get the attention of the others, it was pretty universally panned.raiders93 wrote: Fri Apr 10, 2026 9:27 am Man I’d say almost anyone other than Gruden would’ve made better picks than Gruden. Some truly head scratching stuff.

You can just imagine teams that were drafting a pick or two behind Gruden's Raiders in the opening rounds were likely giddy that they didn't have to worry about the Raiders taking their guy seeing they could assume the Raiders would reach for someone they weren't even considering.

Forgot about him. I have less anger on that one because at least there wasn’t another corner that should’ve been the obvious choice.Attyla wrote: Fri Apr 10, 2026 9:39 am Arnette was really bad as well, and while it did not get the attention of the others, it was pretty universally panned.
On the other hand, there’s definitely a case to be made that he was the single biggest reach Gruden made. Where we picked him relative to where most draft pundits had him projected.
What’s worse is that we picked him 3 spots ahead of Justin Jefferson… while the receiver we picked earlier is now in prison

Some of that is hindsight but Arnette had some pretty big flags predraft.raiders93 wrote: Fri Apr 10, 2026 11:06 am Forgot about him. I have less anger on that one because at least there wasn’t another corner that should’ve been the obvious choice.

Even forgetting off the field stuff, you dont draft slow cornerbacks in round 1Attyla wrote: Fri Apr 10, 2026 11:28 am Some of that is hindsight but Arnette had some pretty big flags predraft.

I think the intent was to convert him to a safety. He was just another bad pick. If you read the article, you read where Gruden tanked film intentionally when he did not want a guy. No wonder he was epically bad. As bad as the old man was at times, he gave Gruden a pretty good lineup. He made it even better for Callahan. Too bad it did not pay off.DanKD wrote: Fri Apr 10, 2026 1:33 pm Even forgetting off the field stuff, you dont draft slow cornerbacks in round 1
