Sure you can make comparisons. While every player is individual there are traits guys have in common. Comparisons happen all the time and some can be quite accurate. Mendoza's accuracy is Burrow like, his size is Rothlesburger like. His arm compares to Marino in that he can make all the throws but has very good touch. All legit comparisonsGoodtimes333 wrote: Sun Apr 05, 2026 2:43 pm You can't compare Fernando to anybody else, he's his own person. If he's ready to play immediately, or within the first 3-4 weeks he will. The fans just assuming he's going to sit a whole year are likely giving Cousins too much credit. Fernando as we speak is probably practicing snaps under center. Learning the concepts of the scheme from Brian Griese. He's a football nerd. That's a big part of why he's going to be the #1 pick. This is also a run first offense. That plays a factor.
I also cannot comprehend how people simply cannot wrap their mind around the facts of WHY the oline was bad particularly last year. Chip Kelly ran a very complex system that the players had trouble picking up. The line coach was a guy who was unqualified. Kolton Miller missed basically the whole year. JPJ missed half the year. The players had to meet after practice to discuss and work on things themselves to understand the scheme. f[raiders_icon]ckers will then crow that the oline is dog shit and the team needs 4 new starters after Linderbaum. Most NFL teams have holes on the oline, question marks, unproven guys slated to start, etc etc. The Raiders have the pieces to run a wide zone scheme with maybe the best guy in the NFL to teach it in Rick Dennison

Our OL has been gash the past few years. Brining in cousins to take the lumps if they don’t make a huge leap forward is a good move. I’m a lurker, but some of these overreactions made me compelled to make a post

Yea bc we should definitelyyyyyy give the Raiders organization the benefit of the doubt. Anyway, aren't you just a dumb fan giving your opinion on here too?RaiderFan1 wrote: Sun Apr 05, 2026 5:50 pm Opinions vary = Ignorant Fans.
Fans .dont have any of the needed information that NFL organizations have, coaches have, gm's have. Fans havnt had conversations or interactions with players. Fans dont understand what the coaches and gm's understand about the player needs, scheme needs, team needs, organizational needs.
Fans dont understand what they dont know. Fans are blow hard arrogant biased keyboard warriors that say shlt that they would never say to peoples faces cause they dont fear getting their ass kicked while they hide behind their keyboards. Very few are able to see this reality. Instead they are focussed on feeding their egos.

We already have a statue on roster if that's the case. To me it's pretty obvious he was brought on board because he knows Kubes system and he can ease Mendo's learning curve into the NFL without killing his confidence along the way.Steve_Whiskey wrote: Sun Apr 05, 2026 4:16 pm Our OL has been gash the past few years. LoL-exactly. Case in point Matt Flynn and Matt Schuab. I think sitting behind Alex Smith helped Mahomes. Mahomes has even said as much.Xramfan wrote: Sun Apr 05, 2026 2:21 pm The beating the dead horse gif above is apt.
If Cousins sucks from day 1 then I’m certain Mendo starts day 1.
Let OTAs and TC and pre season play out and let the experts figure out what’s best. Some rookies start day 1 because of circumstances that force them to, some start day 1 because they are the clear winner and ready, some sit a bit and observe and learn to their benefit. I don’t think one size fits all and I’ll defer to Spytek, Brady and Kubiaks judgement on this one.
Mahomes was said to be ready day 1 but Andy sat him behind Smith for a season. Did that hurt or help Mahomes?

LMAO-It's a Raider Nation tradition. The Immaculate Reception and Tuck Rule dead horses are so fossilized that they need carbon 14 dating.Rabidraider wrote: Sun Apr 05, 2026 8:06 pm We are now past beating the dead horse and now at the decomposing stage.

You make a comment that actually was true 20 years ago but with access to film and interviews and data driven stats, fans have a lot more knowledge than at any time in sports history. And we get that stat load in real time. So no, while a GM or a coach will have more knowledge, a fan is not ignorant, at least if they are looking at the available data. Calling a fan ignorant today flies in the face of relative truth.RaiderFan1 wrote: Sun Apr 05, 2026 5:50 pm Opinions vary = Ignorant Fans.
