Free Agency thread for Raiders and league-wide
Free agency opens March 11. CBS Sports has their top 50 ranking. No Raiders on the list. I am surprised at a couple rated high - Aaron Rodgers and Daniel Jones. Lots of wide receivers

The Bucs did it in 2021 and the Rams did it in 2022.Nor_Cal_Raider wrote: Wed Mar 25, 2026 12:24 pm Sweet. We can be the first team to win the SB in their own stadium.
Edit: Hellbound beat me to it.

We need a backup RB who can take the pounding and get us results in short yardage situations. Keep Jeanty fresh and try to avoid him getting hurt as best as possible. I would love to sign Kareem Hunt. I'm glad we are speaking with Harris. The kid can do everything (tough yards, catch the ball, block), but he is coming off an achilles injury. Cheap prove it deal would be nice. At least the FO knows its a big need.

The Chargers curse. He was healthy as can be every year with the Steelers. Goes to the down bad Chargers and gets hurt in the 3rd/4th game. There's a reason their trophy case is empty whilst having some great teams over the yearsRI RAIDER wrote: Thu Mar 26, 2026 9:20 am We need a backup RB who can take the pounding and get us results in short yardage situations. Mccarthy was vastly overdrafted coming out of college due to the team he played for and the limited amount he was asked to do. I think theres almost no chance he becomes a successful qb for Minnesota. Maybe he can learn for a few years and have success with his next team.

yes, i do realize that but kevin also fvcked up showing sam darnold the door (14 wins) and handing the job to jj and not being able to slow the game down for him even though the offense had supreme talent...its not automatic that everyone that comes from a guru tree is great either

Given their GM got fired and KoC is still there, maybe he didnt want to let Darnold go. Its also possible his ego got in the way thinking he could turn shit into caviar

That's my take as well. I'm just reading tea leaves but their GM bit the big one on this. If he had total GM control them it's on him and him alone.DanKD wrote: Thu Mar 26, 2026 11:53 am Given their GM got fired and KoC is still there, maybe he didnt want to let Darnold go. Darnold probably had something to do with it too. Finally 1 good year and the team doesn't really seem to want to keep me? I'm out.

I doubt he is even a consideration with his domestic violence past. I do agree he would be a great addition.mstrbass2000 wrote: Thu Mar 26, 2026 11:09 am agree 100 pct the raiders need a good backup that can do it all (block, catch and get tough yds) kareem hunt would be a great pick up

It always bothers me that Hunt's incident gets called domestic violence. There was no relationship there other than a meeting at a bar earlier in the night and then she pounded on his hotel door and didn't leave. I don't have any tolerance for DV, but this isn't it. He was stupid, so was she, but without an actual relationship it would have been incredibly easy for her to just go away - unlike in actual DV situations.Grumpy13 wrote: Thu Mar 26, 2026 12:11 pm I doubt he is even a consideration with his domestic violence past. I don't think Hunt is the right guy, but I think that's about football and not about anything off the field.

Yeah he got a lot of bad press for that. She was with a group of people hanging on at the bar. When the group moved upstairs he found out her age and said no way. She was hammered and went ballistic. He was just trying to get her to leave. Not a great look for sure but not domestic batterychucker wrote: Thu Mar 26, 2026 12:41 pm It always bothers me that Hunt's incident gets called domestic violence. No paywall....

Las Vegas Raiders
Favorite Move: LB Nakobe Dean
This is based on Dean’s 2024 season rather than his 2025 campaign. In the latter, he was hindered by injuries and failed to replicate his prior success. In 2024, he earned a 77.4 PFF overall grade, which ranked 11th among all linebackers. It is still to be seen whether he can repeat that performance without All-Pro Zack Baun playing next to him.
Least Favorite Move: LB Quay Walker
The Raiders signed Walker to a three-year, $40.5 million contract, making him the eighth-highest-paid linebacker in the league. Despite his athletic ability, Walker has yet to justify a contract of that size. He failed to rank among the top 60 linebackers in PFF overall grade in any of his four seasons, and he placed just 76th among 88 qualifying linebackers with a 46.0 PFF overall grade in 2025.
