So 25% of the league has no state tax. It's not huge advantage. Plus you pay taxes on where the games are playedCruisin with Tooz wrote: Thu Mar 19, 2026 11:24 am There are only 7 states that dont have a state income tax and only 5 have an NFL team for a total of 8 teams. Ten, TX, FL, NV and WA. Compared to a state like NY or CA where the rate is 10%, a player making 30 million APY loses an extra 1.5 million per year by playing there.

Thats why the tax savings was 1.5 million and not 3 million.FLORIDARAYDAH wrote: Thu Mar 19, 2026 11:26 am So 25% of the league has no state tax. It's not huge advantage. Plus you pay taxes on where the games are played

I think we all can agree it's not much of a draw. Many teams don't have a state tax. Players have not been flocking to Florida for years. It's not some new advantageCruisin with Tooz wrote: Thu Mar 19, 2026 4:24 pm Thats why the tax savings was 1.5 million and not 3 million.

The lowest nfl salary is just under 800,000 a year; after taxes I am thinking a person is roughly getting about 600,000 a season to live on….to me that quite a lot of money anyway and you are really not going to moan about paying state taxes….
So I really think the state taxes is a non factor in the NFL

It hasn’t done anything to Improve our record.
I think franchise leadership matters more then taxes.

Exactly. Does anyone think players are flocking to Miami this year because of no state tax?RaiderandBulldog wrote: Fri Mar 20, 2026 3:43 am It hasn’t done anything to Improve our record.

if the raiders got back to winning and contending the no state tax thing would come into play a lot more but since we suck ,all it does is offset the losers pay PREMIUM to get player to come to las vegas

But the big contracts have big signing bonuses which wouldn't be taxed.FLORIDARAYDAH wrote: Thu Mar 19, 2026 11:26 am So 25% of the league has no state tax. It's not huge advantage. Plus you pay taxes on where the games are played

good players want a chance at winning the super bowl and playing with other great players and great coaches over a little more moneyNor_Cal_Raider wrote: Fri Mar 20, 2026 10:35 am But the big contracts have big signing bonuses which wouldn't be taxed.

When you look at those names, historically have you ever seen them have some major FA mojo in their favor when just being an average or below average team? I see no pattern.

Understanding Sign-on Bonuses: Definition, Process, and Taxation
Yes, NFL players pay federal, state, and local taxes on signing bonuses, as they are considered taxable income.

That’s because there are several reasons a player might choose one team or another. Our team has been such a joke that of course players may not want to come here.FLORIDARAYDAH wrote: Thu Mar 19, 2026 4:27 pm I think we all can agree it's not much of a draw. But I think if the organization starts winning, you would see some crying. People would say it’s unfair. Winning organization, attractive city, tax advantages, how do other teams have a chance? The Golden Knights made some big signings over the years and there have been complaints about unfairness.

Some athletes spend all their money and end up broke. Also some places are much more expensive than Vegas so the same amount of salary in Vegas can go much farther.SuperRaider wrote: Fri Mar 20, 2026 2:40 am The lowest nfl salary is just under 800,000 a year; after taxes I am thinking a person is roughly getting about 600,000 a season to live on….to me that quite a lot of money anyway and you are really not going to moan about paying state taxes….

It’s something that can be a factor if it’s a close decision. If the team sucks or if a player dislikes the city, then they won’t likely go there for any tax advantages.SkullCrusher wrote: Fri Mar 20, 2026 11:37 am Or Jacksonville or Tampa or Tennessee or Dallas or Houston?
