Free Agency thread for Raiders and league-wide
Free agency opens March 11. CBS Sports has their top 50 ranking. No Raiders on the list. I am surprised at a couple rated high - Aaron Rodgers and Daniel Jones. Lots of wide receivers

If any team followed ESPN's advice all the way they would go 0-17; so many bad takes.

Are we still on the hook for Wilkins?chucker wrote: Fri Mar 13, 2026 6:37 pm Good thought. Yes you can add void years later. But you need the player’s signoff to do that because you’re adding more years to the contract even though he is not obligated to play those years. If void years already exist in the contract then you have the ability to take any portion of his salary above the minimum and spread it out over the life of the contract, including those void years, and you don’t need the player’s approval.
Adding those void years at the outset gives future flexibility.

agree...that we have that flexibility to rework max and koltons deal gives us a lot of leverage on adding more players this yr that could elevate this teamchucker wrote: Sat Mar 14, 2026 7:37 am No need, until after you've made a signing that makes that necessary.

There's almost $30 million in dead money factored into the the cap costs this season. The dead money could go up or down based on the outcome of the grievance process. I think someone (Vinnie?) said that the grievance would be heard in May or June. I'd expect that any increase or decrease in dead money would end up as an adjustment to the 2027 cap instead of being reflected this season, but that's my guess and not based on actual information. There's also a chance that the two sides work out a settlement prior to the grievance being adjudicated.

It's in court and theres no concrete details on what happened. I've heard a variety of things, up to and Including grabbing people's cock and dragging his balls on someone's face. Who knows if that's real or not. Seems unlikely. He needed surgery and wouldn't get it. That and/or he bungled his rehab because he wanted to do it outside of the building. Either way the Raiders get something like 50 million in dead cap off the books next year

Definitely no to Jennings. Overrated, probably expensive and looks like a locker room problem. Deebo would be at the top of my wish list - makes a ton of sense in terms of fit with kubiak being from the shannahan coaching tree. Always been a QB-friendly target in the short game with his YAC abilitychucker wrote: Sat Mar 14, 2026 6:49 am I would not go for Jennings. Nailor fills the role that Jennings would fill, and might be as good at it once he gets more opportunities. If we add to the WR room, it has to be a higher ceiling and younger player - in the draft.

Deebo is as tough as WRs come and I’d love to see him in the silver and black, but I don’t think our timelines match up.raiders93 wrote: Sat Mar 14, 2026 11:39 am Definitely no to Jennings. You might be right at least on his end. I think for us though, he might not be part of a 5 year plan but WR seems like a spot where a vet who can come in and give Mendo a go-to target (outside of Brock) would be huge. Even a Keenan Allen (while different stylistically) would fill that need though I doubt he leaves LA.Jeevo wrote: Sat Mar 14, 2026 12:04 pm Deebo is as tough as WRs come and I’d love to see him in the silver and black, but I don’t think our timelines match up.

If we add a wr in FA, Im looking for a 1 year stopgap on a cheap deal to tide us over to the 2027 draft, where we take our #1 WR in the 1st or 2nd round. Dont need anything extravagant this year, just a reliable floor. Just some more depth to complete with what we already have. Mendoza may not even be starting for the first quarter to third of the season, and when he does get the call, were going to be in a run heavy offense and when he throws, its going to primarily be to Bowers and Jeanty. Keenan Allen would be fine for that role. 8-10 million for 1 year.

It would be shocking if Mendo isn’t starting day 1 imo. We gonna start AOC for 4-6 games to accomplish… what exactly?Cruisin with Tooz wrote: Sat Mar 14, 2026 12:17 pm If we add a wr in FA, Im looking for a 1 year stopgap on a cheap deal to tide us over to the 2027 draft, where we take our #1 WR in the 1st or 2nd round. Agree on Keenan, I think Deebo fulfils the same idea. We’re not in position to get a young star WR this year, but we can get away with a guy that can reliably get open on 3rd downs and provide some easy, short completions.

No more FA WRs. Time to draft one.
