Free Agency thread for Raiders and league-wide
Free agency opens March 11. CBS Sports has their top 50 ranking. No Raiders on the list. I am surprised at a couple rated high - Aaron Rodgers and Daniel Jones. Lots of wide receivers

I don't think you need a bully at center....... you need a technician who makes the right protection calls and communicates well. A lot of centers are "undersized". Some damn good ones are undersized.raider_kin wrote: Tue Feb 17, 2026 6:39 pm Didn't the rundown on him say he was undersized? Would love to have him cheap, but that's not gonna happen. We need to build a line of bullies, monsters.

I agree with you, but.... if we can get Linderbaum, we need to sign him. Or.............. take a shot in the draft or JPJ being the guy?raider_kin wrote: Tue Feb 17, 2026 6:39 pm Didn't the rundown on him say he was undersized? I don't see Linderbaum making it out of Baltimore to any team but stranger things have happened. The Bills are currently in cap purgatory so I could see McGovern being plan B. In the end it's up to the coaches to find there guys wether on the team, somewhere else in FA or drafted and get them to perform. Carrol was so bad as an OL coach it's not a stretch that this years OL will be leaps and bounds above the one we just had which was beyond horrible...

We need to build the line that works best with our coach's scheme, and I don't think that is going to be oversized bullies. I think he's looking for smart, athletic guys.raider_kin wrote: Tue Feb 17, 2026 6:39 pm Didn't the rundown on him say he was undersized? Would love to have him cheap, but that's not gonna happen. Regardless, I'm not aware of any OL philosophies that rely on slow, weak, dumb guys, so there better be a lot of turnover this off-season.

Had Brennan actually done any coaching they probably would have lined up with their asses to the defense.

I’m guessing JPJ’s days at Center for the Raiders are over. If he lacked the intelligence for Brennan (who is himself an apocalyptic moron), I have strong doubts he’ll be able to handle Coach Kube’s O. Hell, I’m not even sure that he won’t be replaced at Guard when the Raiders are afforded the luxury.Dr Death wrote: Tue Feb 17, 2026 6:51 pm I agree with you, but.... if we can get Linderbaum, we need to sign him. Have not got a clue on what the raiders will do with JPJ; but when he put in the center spot under Norv/ Scott Turner time when they were OC…he actually did pretty good; have not got a clue why Pete Carroll thought he was a better guard than center; and really cannot judge JPJ on last season disaster….so hopefully JPJ come into this season totally fresh and named the center for the raiders in 2026…GoodTimeCharlie wrote: Wed Feb 18, 2026 1:14 am I’m guessing JPJ’s days at Center for the Raiders are over. Yup, we need to acquire "Talented AND intelligent people".srv5490 wrote: Tue Feb 17, 2026 7:49 pm We need to build the line that works best with our coach's scheme, and I don't think that is going to be oversized bullies. I think he's looking for smart, athletic guys.

We can definitely outbid them if we really want him. Hopefully he sees Bal trending down and us trending up.16 to 88 wrote: Tue Feb 17, 2026 7:07 pm I don't see Linderbaum making it out of Baltimore to any team but stranger things have happened. How about Allgeier? Tyler will not break the bank, has decent pass blocking skills. Would be able to come in the give Jeanty a breather but has largely been healthy. Not a great runner but a solid runner. And he is not very old so he can continue to grow in his position. If you are looking for a cheap option that does not cost a draft pick, you can do worse

I’m definitely not a fan of his. He’s avg at best. He was vulturing touches & TDs from Bijan &, that’s the only reason people think he’s any good. He’s just a bigger bruiser that’s not very good at anything else, while just ok at short yardage situations. It’d be a waste of money & roster space could be used for an actual good backup RB who will be just as cheap or cheaper. Or a higher upside play with a drafted day 3 RB (like Mike Washington or Nick Singleton?) that will provide better production as a backup &, solid 3 down ability with upside, if Jeanty gets injured.Attyla wrote: Thu Feb 19, 2026 1:08 pm How about Allgeier? He would be cheap and he is a good blocker, decent pass catcher and gets the ugly yards. And his youth appeals.MexicanHulk wrote: Thu Feb 19, 2026 2:42 pm I’m definitely not a fan of his. I doubt he’ll be that cheap for his talent. He’s probably still gonna get 4-5mil. Maybe more &, I wouldn’t even call him a decent pass catcher. He can get “ugly” short yardage, yards. But his overall vision, tackle breaking, setting up blocks, speed, acceleration, is, below avg to avg at best. No use in wasting salary cap or roster space on him. I see 2M as his top level salary. Ugly yards is a good thing. But he does average over 3 yards per carry.MexicanHulk wrote: Thu Feb 19, 2026 3:50 pm I doubt he’ll be that cheap for his talent.
