Free Agency thread for Raiders and league-wide
Free agency opens March 11. CBS Sports has their top 50 ranking. No Raiders on the list. I am surprised at a couple rated high - Aaron Rodgers and Daniel Jones. Lots of wide receivers

yea didn't think of that.FLORIDARAYDAH wrote: Tue Feb 17, 2026 3:14 pm Like Chucker stated the highest paid C makes 18 million . He could sign the tag and say fine pay me almost 28 for the season and destroy your cap room they have. I don't see them taking that chance unless they are already close to a deal and he agrees not to. In which case we have no shot anyways

When a player gets franchise tagged, the agents generally use the tag value as the starting point for an annual salary on a long term deal - sometimes they go even higher because it takes 20% more to tag them a second time the next season. I don't see the Ravens taking that approach because they would likely end up with a far higher salary than the next closest center. I guess there's also a question of whether the Ravens believe they have a succession plan on the roster - they are a team that often lets players leave in FA and that's why they collect so many good compensatory picks. Linderbaum is really good and likely ends up as the highest paid center in history because of the FA overpays, but he's not the best in the game.

From yout mouth to Gods ears.heavyD wrote: Tue Feb 17, 2026 3:28 pm Sounds unlikely the Ravens will franchise tag him. The Raiders certainly have the cap space to outbid the Ravens and Giants and I wouldn't be surprised if that's exactly what happens.

The Ravens currently have 22m in cap space as well. So they will need to do a little work to sign him. And their rookies. Not counting any other needs they have

The Ravens can create plenty of cap space with a Lamar Jackson restructure, but they also have other FAs that they need to re-sign or replace who won't be cheap.vtraider wrote: Tue Feb 17, 2026 3:44 pm The Ravens currently have 22m in cap space as well. We need to sign him… it would be like when we signed Rodney Hudson and in a year or two the line was dominantheavyD wrote: Tue Feb 17, 2026 3:28 pm Sounds unlikely the Ravens will franchise tag him. It seems pretty unique how this played out with the rules the Ravens and Linderbaum. Typically this a no chance he's leaving, to at least it maybe could happen. I have to think they figure something out.

I dont know if the Ravens would restructure his contract adding years and maybe pushing money back.chucker wrote: Tue Feb 17, 2026 3:47 pm The Ravens can create plenty of cap space with a Lamar Jackson restructure, but they also have other FAs that they need to re-sign or replace who won't be cheap.
I love me some Lamar but between his age, inaccuracy and injuries his time is coming to an end. Do the Ravens value him more idk.
Last year or the year before they let him go find a trafe partner or receive an offer in fa or somethinglike that.
That to me doesn't exacty spell long term.

I agree and to 5 years. 125M with 85 guaranteed to lock down pur oline.nmonte374 wrote: Tue Feb 17, 2026 4:00 pm We need to sign him… it would be like when we signed Rodney Hudson and in a year or two the line was dominant
He's elite.
3 probows in 4 years unless he was a fill in than border elite.
Still Kubiak has high regard for the position and we have next to nothing invested in the line.
If hes doesn't get tagged hes a must get.

He's very good, but I think that's too rich. The highest paid center is at $18 million a year and he's easily better than Linderbaum. Linderbaum is good, and will help stabilize a line and play well technically, but he can get overpowered. Guys get overpaid in FA, but it would be pretty crazy for a guy to get almost 40% more than the next highest paid guy, who's also a better player.KillerRaider30 wrote: Tue Feb 17, 2026 4:43 pm I agree and to 5 years. 125M with 85 guaranteed to lock down pur oline.

If it's $25 million per for Linderbaum, then maybe you go after McGovern instead - who's also very good. It's also possible that Kubiak doesn't choose either guy and wants to groom someone himself. An undrafted second year player who played tackle in college and barely played as a rookie was the starter for the Seahawks this season.

I’m betting Kubiak is thinking his new line coach will actually be more qualified than Brennan and maybe we have some pieces to work with. If not, I’m still betting we look better than last year’s performance.chucker wrote: Tue Feb 17, 2026 5:01 pm He's very good, but I think that's too rich. Didn't the rundown on him say he was undersized? Would love to have him cheap, but that's not gonna happen. We need to build a line of bullies, monsters.
