Free Agency thread for Raiders and league-wide
Free agency opens March 11. CBS Sports has their top 50 ranking. No Raiders on the list. I am surprised at a couple rated high - Aaron Rodgers and Daniel Jones. Lots of wide receivers

I’d rather use those resources on a guy we can develop for the future than get Evans to try to help us win meaningless games for a year, maybe two.Nor_Cal_Raider wrote: Tue Feb 10, 2026 5:34 pm I know I'm in the minority but i think mike evans would be a good fit for probably half the price of pierce. Great hands and red zone target. He still has enough left that defenses have to respect him which helps the rest of the offense. His ties to brady and spytek make this a realistic option.

Brock is a movable piece yes. Do you not understand the rules dictate a boundary receiver tethered to the line. Not Brock since you want him playing multiple positions. You need legitimate pieces elsewhere to get Brock open and keep the defense honest. Suggesting he alone can carry a passing offense is ridiculous. We need another legitimate receiver. It might be Bech or Thornton, but TBDBoKnows81 wrote: Tue Feb 10, 2026 5:43 pm LOL.
Lacking football IQ is thinking Brock is actually a TE.

Anyone saying Pierce is overrated doesn't know ball. Hes been doing his thing making plays since day 1 drafted. He was making plays with Minshew at QB.
Also, perhaps comprehend that Indianapolis has been running Taylor into the ground. He gets a ton of touches every game. Pittman has been on the team & they just got Warren. Just because he wasn't force fed the ball doesn't mean he has some ceiling. That's a lazy argument. The last thing the Raiders need is some bitch ass whiner type of receiver who wants 40 mil per & will create chaos over not reaching a stat line

I don’t know how good Pierce can be,but I agree..he is a solid player..seems like up to this year he was mainly a one trick pony(long balls),but QB play improved and he got more attention. He’s super athletic.

Alec Pierce and Tre Tucker were teammates with the Cincinnati Bearcats. If he makes it to FA and doesn't break the bank that could be a draw. Tom Brady is the fuckin golden eye scout for impeccable white receivers! If he puts his stamp on Pierce, that's all the approval needed lol

I don't about getting Shaheed but if we did another bonus would be he certainly knows the system. And, could help aid others in getting up to speed.NoThanksSir wrote: Tue Feb 10, 2026 4:56 pm The Bowers argument lacks football IQ. He isn't a #1 WR, he is a #1 TE. He doesn't play the X and unlocking Bowers and Mendoza's potential will require a legitimate receiver in the pass game.
I will agree with you (I think you mentioned this in another thread), we don't need to make the move for a #1 this year. But we need one. Bowers isn't a substitute in my eyes.
But I'd gladly give up the hope of a #1 WR for Devin Lloyd and a pass rusher. I think Pickens is unlikely and ultimately I'd avoid guys like Pierce altogether. Shaheed should be a lot less expensive though.

Pierce is about 4 feet too tall to be a Brady white receiver.Goodtimes333 wrote: Tue Feb 10, 2026 10:43 pm Alec Pierce and Tre Tucker were teammates with the Cincinnati Bearcats. First things first.
What we don't know is once things get up and running who they view currently on the roster they like and/or fit for the systems both offensively and defensively. Next comes FA and what they can fill there. What they didn't get done in FA will then be addressed in the draft. QB will be addressed with our first pick, then, after that, it's anybody's guess but we might get a better idea after FA. It seems to me at the top of the list with pick #2 would be OL, LB, WR. It will all depend on our board and how the draft falls.
We know about Tucker but Bech and Thornton? If neither are viewed as good and/or a fit for the system then we are barren at the wide receiver position. Something else of note is with the exception of Tucker, all four, Bowers, Mayer, Thornton and Bech are all tall targets. We are also going to need another RB and I would suspect it will be a guy that can catch passes out of the backfield and be somebody that every DC in the league will have to game plan for.
You don't go out and spend the #1 overall pick in the draft on what you deem is your future QB and not have an OL that can pass and run block, have a running game, and guys that can catch the ball out of the backfield, and receivers with good hands and smarts to get open and understand what is going on in the system. You are going to give your prize quarterback everything possible to succeed before anything else.

I never said we dont need legitimate pieces elsewhere. What we absolutely do not need is another "#1 pass catcher" though. Thinking we need a Pickens, Evans or AJ Brown type guy is asinine. Yes, Brock is capable, and will, play multiple positions. I don't understand what your complaint is with that. He's a matchup nightmare wherever he lines up and doesnt need help to get open.NoThanksSir wrote: Tue Feb 10, 2026 6:26 pm Brock is a movable piece yes. Brock, Mayer, Pierce, Tucker, Bech (who i think takes a big year 2 jump) and maybe a 2nd day WR are plenty enough. Add in a complimentary RB to spell Jeanty and I couldn't be happier with the offensive skill positional group.

exactly, bro. we don't even know what we have in Bech and Thornton Jr. and already people are wanting to go out and drop a chunk of our precious cap on a top-market receiver. it's not like we are a receiver away from being whole and that money undoubtedly could be better spent elsewhere. I mean... the teams that are paying big money to a WR, how did they fare this season? nearly all of them, with the exception of the Lions and Eagles, didn't even make the post season. the best WRs in the league are on rookie-deals... that should tell you enough.BoKnows81 wrote: Wed Feb 11, 2026 2:13 am I never said we dont need legitimate pieces elsewhere. It will interesting to see what we do in FA regarding our LBs. All the starters are FAs so basically all we have is Eichenberg and Lindenberg. So I expect us to sign at least 2 new LBs as I don’t see us re-signing any of our current LBs that are FAs.

I think this is where we can make the biggest difference. The FA LBer group looks really nice cause, they mostly (Lloyd being the exception) seem like bargain deals. Leo Chenal, N. Dean, Q. Walker, W. Gay, C. Ellis, D. Bush all seem like possibly really good bargains &, be good above avg starters. I’d get 2 minimum & try for 3 of them.BoJacksonRules wrote: Wed Feb 11, 2026 7:59 am It will interesting to see what we do in FA regarding our LBs. I also agree with you, Bowers is 100% a #1 receiving option. But yes, he’s not a #1 X type. So Raiders need a solid X guy. Not an elite “#1 X”.
Edit: I say a solid X would be a nice add but not, 100% needed. I really like Bech but, he’s more of a slot. Tucker is more of a slot. Thorton, love his potential but, probably needs another year of experience before he can be relied upon for good production.

Whiners local radio station dropped Geno's name as a backup, in case the Whiners traded Mac Jones.heavyD wrote: Tue Feb 10, 2026 12:01 pm I'm surprise he listed soon to be cut QB's on the list but not Smith. Smith was Carroll's guy and I would be pretty surprised if the Raiders don't cut him. I don't know if I would even want his mopey ass on the sideline as a backup QB as the guy was straight up trash last season.

I do like me some Leo Chenal, plus we’d be taking from KC. I think we will remake the LB group without breaking the bank.MexicanHulk wrote: Wed Feb 11, 2026 10:43 am I think this is where we can make the biggest difference. Agreed really good LB'er group. Might be worth grabbing two tbh. And yea X isn't a pressing need, but it's an absolute requirement for good play design. Thornton is the lone true X we have right now, and I'm still quite high on him. But you can't bank the future of a position on a 4th round pick. Luckily this offseason the main prerogative is two top tier offensive linemen, but I think we'll definitely make a move for a traditional perimeter receiver at some point. If not this year, it'll be a main priority next.MexicanHulk wrote: Wed Feb 11, 2026 10:43 am I think this is where we can make the biggest difference.
