Just when I think it's a nightmare to be a Raider fan, the Browns come along and say "hold my beer"

I dont know if Mendoza and our new coach will lead us to superbowls but itll certainly be nice if we are no longer part of the discussion of worst nfl franchises along side the likes of Jets, and BrownsDeathStar24 wrote: Thu Jan 29, 2026 10:23 am Just when I think it's a nightmare to be a Raider fan, the Browns come along and say "hold my beer"

Exactly. While a SB is the ultimate goal how many of us would have turned our nose up at having the Bill's record over the past 5 yearsDanKD wrote: Thu Jan 29, 2026 10:48 am I dont know if Mendoza and our new coach will lead us to superbowls but itll certainly be nice if we are no longer part of the discussion of worst nfl franchises along side the likes of Jets, and Browns

Much like Bills fans once you get relevant then the expectations rise and you want the rings. We have been so low we just relevant at the momentvtraider wrote: Thu Jan 29, 2026 10:55 am Exactly. Praying Kubiak wants the job because it's obvious the Raiders want him. Now Webb didn't get an offer to be HC anywhere and he could stay with Payton in Denver but could Kubiak want Webb to learn under him as OC knowing how well he works with QB's especially if that QB is a rookie?RI RAIDER wrote: Thu Jan 29, 2026 9:22 am I think its a done deal that we have Kubiak lined up. I said prior that no noise is good. I will add that goes for the hiring of coordinators as well. It seems there is no rush right not and the team is letting Kubiak get his guy. If Webb (who I like) was the guy, he would have already been signed. Furthermore, coordinators would be more critical for Webb because we would need someone who has been around the block a few times (and maybe HC experience to boot).

The Bills record would have been our reality and losing not making the SB would be a major compliant.vtraider wrote: Thu Jan 29, 2026 10:55 am Exactly. While a SB is the ultimate goal how many of us would have turned our nose up at having the Bill's record over the past 5 years
Are Bills fans thinking it's all ok? That we are doing way better than the Browns or are they thinking, we had the Chiefs in our way that was unfortunate and now that they aren't it was our turn, but instead the new-gen took over and now I'm very unhappy! The later imo is how fans feel.
As soon as we win more, we will want to immediately win more than that.
Steelers fans weren't crazy about 19 seasons above .500 because SB appearances barely happened, same for Ravens who did a bit better.
All 3 winning teams decided new HC. It wasn't enough even being perennial solid.
NE beats us in '76 does Madden ever hoist a SB? And we were deep run playoff team every year. Expectations always raise.

ESPN’s Jeremely Fowler reports one candidate for the Raiders’ head coaching vacancy predicted, “it’s probably (Kubiak’s) job to lose.”
Per Fowler, the Raiders are interviewing Klint Kubiak this weekend and will then make their final decision for their head coaching vacancy. Vegas has spent its top two picks in each of the past two drafts on offensive players. They are also about to spend the No. 1 overall pick on Indiana quarterback Fernando Mendoza. The team is built around offensive cornerstones and Kubiak is one of the hottest offensive-minded head coaching candidates on the market. Barring a last-second twist, all signs point to Kubiak getting this job.

Just a curiosity question regarding Kubiak. I'm more than convinced he's the right guy, at the right time, for what is the right situation. Everywhere it's talked about him being a hot offensive-minded coach. Why has he not been pursued hard by other teams?BoKnows81 wrote: Thu Jan 29, 2026 11:38 am ESPN’s Jeremely Fowler reports one candidate for the Raiders’ head coaching vacancy predicted, “it’s probably (Kubiak’s) job to lose.”

We don't really know what those conversations were like. Add to the fact that they are still in the playoffs, so any team that didn't interview him had to make moves or sit on their hands for a first interview.RickRyb wrote: Thu Jan 29, 2026 11:51 am Just a curiosity question regarding Kubiak. Including us, 6 of the 10 teams with coaching openings interviewed him.RickRyb wrote: Thu Jan 29, 2026 11:51 am Just a curiosity question regarding Kubiak. Bills and Steelers the timing didn't really make sense. They were in the playoffs and couldn't get in the first round of interviews, so they would have had to wait to interview him.
The Giants went with Harbaugh, which you can argue is the marquee hire of experienced coaches and makes sense. The Titans went with Saleh.
I think he has had plenty of interest. There's certainly a possibility teams like Miami and Atlanta who interviewed him realized they weren't serious contenders and didn't want to wait and be left with nothing after the Superbowl.

Well, he is only 38. Prior to Seattle he was the OC for coaching regimes on the way out, Minnesota in 2021 and New Orleans in 2024 and neither of those teams had a great QB situation. Kirk Cousins did had a strong passing campaign in 2021 where the Vikings were ranked 14th in points for and 12th in yards so Kubiak did do some solid work with the Vikings as an OC the short time he was there.RickRyb wrote: Thu Jan 29, 2026 11:51 am Just a curiosity question regarding Kubiak. He was able to put together a top 5 offense in Seattle and take Sam Darnold to the next level. His body of work in Seattle is what has separated him from his peer group. Because of Seattle's Super Bowl run, teams have needed to be patient and some wanted to fill their head coaching positions sooner rather than later. If we are able to land him it will be a huge win for Spytek. Plus, he has a great gig and he is in a sellers market. He can be very selective.
Ironically enough he was a defensive back in college.

Because only Mark puts 65 million for 1.5 years of HC service on the table.RickRyb wrote: Thu Jan 29, 2026 11:51 am Just a curiosity question regarding Kubiak. We do have a planned Franchise QB coming to us that could be enticing.
Beyond that, I got nothing.
