It’s possible the Raiders still have hard feelings after he left them at the altar two years ago resulting in the ill fated Getsy hire.Rabidraider wrote: Tue Jan 27, 2026 6:28 am Its odd there is no smoke about Kingsbury. He parted wish Washington under mutual agreement, so you would think he would be in the conversation regarding many of these openings.

While Kubiak hasn’t had a 2nd interview yet, it still gives hope and that’s enough for now. Mendoza has more upside than Darnold, one can envision what he could do for the Raiders.
Up here in the NW fans are acutely aware of what they have and they love him. That said, ‘Hawks fans are equally obnoxious as their team is good.

To be fair, Mark hasn't exactly given us much to make us confident in his decision making. Considering his many efforts to change up what he's doing which have all failed, tells me that he doesn't know what he's doing. So maybe it's not so much of a case of hating on him, but instead a lack of faith in him.Raidernation1979 wrote: Tue Jan 27, 2026 6:24 am While he has certainly made his share of mistakes, at least he’s continually tried and changed up what he’s doing. It appears to me that in this case, the Al Davis fruit does in fact, "fall far from the tree".

Like I said, I can't watch the clip until this evening. I made an inference from the comments of others. Quite pleased to be wrong!chucker wrote: Tue Jan 27, 2026 6:20 am I haven't even seen Mark mentioned - what is it that makes you say he's still in the middle of things?

I read the reason was over a 2 year deal vs a three year deal. What a time to get cheap.heavyD wrote: Tue Jan 27, 2026 6:35 am It’s possible the Raiders still have hard feelings after he left them at the altar two years ago resulting in the ill fated Getsy hire.

This I 100% agree with. While I was an advocate for bringing Darnold here last year, there is undoubtedly more upside with Mendoza.Viper wrote: Tue Jan 27, 2026 6:38 am While Kubiak hasn’t had a 2nd interview yet, it still gives hope and that’s enough for now. Pelissero running with the narrative that Joe Brady was getting interviewed during the NFL champs game just highlights the bad reporting we'll get. Renz had posted it, but he's garbage so that's not a shock. When the supposedly professional reporters run with that uninformed BS then it gets really bad.
Given the misinformation about the Joe Brady interview, I have zero confidence that Pelissero's comments in the same segment about "who's running the show" with the Raiders have actually come from coaching candidates. It seems more likely that it's just conjecture from Pelissero who's looking to make news where there isn't any.

If the don't like Mendoza they are morons and should immediately be off the list. Fortunately, I don't think anyone feels that way.Caradhras Raider wrote: Mon Jan 26, 2026 7:24 pm I wonder how much of these discussions are revolving around Mendoza and the draft. If these candidates don't like Mendoza as much as the social media portion of Raider Nation, what next? Of course Daboll and J. Brady are going to say they can work with any QB, but what if they don't evaluate Mendoza like others have? Is this why Webb continues to lead the pack? Does he love the pick and if he does, are his philosophies being communicated better than the other coach candidates?
There's so much nuance to these conversations. Spytek and Tom know they have to get this right. Carroll was their mulligan and "learning on the job" process. Everything has to gel this time around. That doesn't mean 11 wins and a SB appearance next year, but there has to be clear and irrefutable proof of progress, culture, and vision.

I think he may have wanted to move on because he knows Daniels is broken and he can't fix him.heavyD wrote: Tue Jan 27, 2026 6:35 am It’s possible the Raiders still have hard feelings after he left them at the altar two years ago resulting in the ill fated Getsy hire.

NO, as mentioned before, Kingsbury's Air Raid scheme isnt a good fit with Mendozas skills set/arm talent. A west coast offense or Shanahans timing-based, play-action, zone running w/ pre-snap motion is best for Mendoza as it prioritizes quick-rhythm passes.Rabidraider wrote: Tue Jan 27, 2026 6:28 am Its odd there is no smoke about Kingsbury. I guess the raiders could tell Kingsbury to run west coast or shanahans scheme, but probably best to just hire the right coaches/scheme. If Webb gets hired as Head coach its probably more likely he hires Daboll as OC as his scheme matches Mendoza better then Kingsburys.

Still waiting aren't we. Maybe Kubiak is the preferred option, wouldn't surprise me the way Brady was praising his play calling on Sunday. Im good either way, the fact that we're in position to draft Mendoza makes everything good for me.

This is why I am leaning toward Webb. He already coaches a system that Mendoza will do well in.RaiderFan1 wrote: Tue Jan 27, 2026 7:41 am NO, as mentioned before, Kingsbury's Air Raid scheme isnt a good fit with Mendozas skills set/arm talent.
