My biggest issue with McDermot is he’s a defensive guy whose defense has let him down in the playoffs every timeRabidraider wrote: Mon Jan 26, 2026 5:55 am Why, 98-50 regular season

He's had deep runs into the playoffs where its a crap shoot and ran into KC. Kind of like how Madden ran into Pittsburgh. His teams have taken out Cincinnati/Baltimore and others in the playoffs and at this point the Raiders need a coach who can get us out of last place. He could finally stabilize the coach carousel.Raidernation1979 wrote: Mon Jan 26, 2026 5:59 am My biggest issue with McDermot is he’s a defensive guy whose defense has let him down in the playoffs every time

I hope we grab Webb and not look a gift horse in the mouth so to speak. Strike while the iron is hot because many strange things can happen in a couple of weeks (an eternity). The proposed staff that comes with Webb (as Corleone mentioned) is first rate.

They did lose to the like of Mahomes/Reid, Burrow/Taylor(moreso Burrow), so it’s not like these were bad offenses. Even Nix/Payton are a really good combo. Plus, they turned the ball over five times and still almost won. And scored 30 against a defense that gave up 18.3 PPG during the season, in spite of five turnovers.Raidernation1979 wrote: Mon Jan 26, 2026 5:59 am My biggest issue with McDermot is he’s a defensive guy whose defense has let him down in the playoffs every time

In a way it's an advantage that we can interview Kubiak and Buffalo cannot. I think I'd prefer that they could, because we still can't officially hire him so I'd rather we could just meet with him and he meet with Buffalo as well (assuming they want that) so that we'd just know that if he handshake agrees with us then it's a fully informed decision.
I think most candidates would view Buffalo as a better situation, but I also think there are some who would look at the situation with the Raiders as a better opportunity to put their own stamp on a fresh situation.

Maybe there is a HC job with a team for AP after all...... they're gonna get desperate.

My gut tells me Webb will be announced as the HC of the Bills later today. He’ll never get the second interview with us. I think the familiarity of Josh Allen and the Buffalo organization trumps what I think is potentially a better opportunity with what we have to offer. In Buffalo he has the superior QB, with limited cap space, in a less than desirable weather city, high expectations for performance, and a division with a young AFC championship team. But he also doesn’t have to play against his pal Payton twice a year and work for a historically poorly run organization. I’m sure Payton has told Webb why he rebuffed us 20 years ago. Although Payton and Brady are friendly, I think the league is still skeptical of how the raiders operate…and rightly so.

They are so f[raiders_icon]cked. I have also removed myself from consideration for the Browns Head Coaching position.chucker wrote: Mon Jan 26, 2026 6:36 am Maybe there is a HC job with a team for AP after all...... they're gonna get desperate.

I’m waiting for news to drop that we have a second interview with Kubiak. I haven’t seen it if it did already.

Call me crazy, but it really seems like we've set up 3 consecutive interviews to f[raiders_icon]ck with Buffalo. Daboll, Brady and now Webb (the 3 guys rumored to have Bills interest).Gmac wrote: Mon Jan 26, 2026 6:40 am My gut tells me Webb will be announced as the HC of the Bills later today. If I didn't know any better, we're trying to mind f[raiders_icon]ck them away from Kubiak. I could be off, but it certainly appears that way to me.
