don't worry too much about that report, Swanson knows less about the Raiders coaching search that we do.

Is this a serious take?

Im trying to figure out if YOUR comment about him being the perfect hire was serious. But considering the source, I'm sure you were serious.

I bet you the Lions would rather have a strategist at HC that walked over the leader of men at HC. The modern nfl is leading toward having a specialist/strategic mind at HC over a rah rah leader. If you have an offensive/defensive ace at HC who can put players in a scheme advantage I'm taking that all day long over the leader of men bs. Hire an assistant HC rah rah guy for that.

Aren't all the people who didn't get the job considered "finalists"?

You just judged his coaching ability on how he wears his joggers.

Pretty hard to take your comment seriously, but we all should know better.

I’m confused - who are the strategists that are playing today and tomorrow?

I see nothing but rah rah leaders.

Let’s not conflate strategists with passive aggressive dweebs that can’t relate or build trust with anyone, see: Josh Mcdaniels.

Mike is quirky and odd but he knows his stuff. He was put in a tough position with Tue as his guy and made the best of it. Nobody knows how well he held the locker room but he worked his way up from nothing to a HC in the league and did it pretty young. I would say if you would want him as your OC then you have to say he is a leader. You do not become an OC without that trait.

That said, I don't know that his quirkiness would resonate with an entire team. I think his pressers are funny as hell in an unintentional way..

If only he wore a suit and tie on the sidelines whilst also being 6'6

Shanahan, Mcvay, Johnson, Payton & Mcdonald all aces at their side of the ball. Guys like Tomlin, Harbaugh who have no genius mind on O or D but are viewed as leadership rocks are sitting home.

I have no idea what McDermott does but Vrabel is a rah rah guy. The rest seem to all be strategists and schemers though

I will say in defense of Mcdaniels, his teams never appeared to quit on him

Do you take the teacher seriously that shows up to parent-teacher conference in PJ's?

Johnson is 100% rah rah. I think former OC’s are strategists by default bc they have to be, but there’s videos of most of these guys doing everything short of crushing an empty beer can on their forehead after a win.

For the record, I hate when ANYONE wears PJ’s outside of the home. I see your point, but to me, rolling up your joggers in 90+ degree South Florida heat is no different than rolling sleeves.
