Most the guys thought highly of have been injured or didn’t play yo to par. We have a guy who played well (excellent even) that seems to have all the physical tools and the mental fortitude to be great.
This years class was poor, it's not a notion that next years class is better it's a fact. If Mendoza wasn't there year, this might be one of the worst classes ever and If we didn't have the 1st pick than we would be f[raiders_icon]cked.

Yes it turned out that way. Go back to last year when everyone said this year would be a better class. It didn’t turn out that way.

chucker wrote: Wed Jan 14, 2026 4:10 pm I think the reason to go back is because he'd like a national championship and also because he wants to maximize his chance of true success in the NFL by getting more development in college before making the jump. NIL money may never make up for the money a player might lose, but it still provides a life changing amount of money that makes the risk of going back for a final year less of a blow if it doesn't work out. I don't think it's about avoiding a particular team, because the teams selecting at the top next year are more likely than not to be very unattractive destinations.
Moore's a 20 year old kid, he already has life changing money and he and his camp know that he needs to develop more. Some of these families also value getting an education.
I said months ago Manning, Sellers, and Moore wouldn't come out. Some clown on here said it would it would be asinine to pass up the NFL when your going to be the top pick, another said fans don't understand the ego involved and they would enter the NFL to be a top pick, another said QB's will look at what happened To Klubnik, Allar, and Nussmeier and not risk staying.

Bottom line is NIL money has changed the landscape and there is not the pressure anymore to jump to the NFL. The best thing for the NFL is that these QBs stay and develop more. There is already a problem with college offenses not producing NFL ready QBs

It turned out to be a good class for us. Mendoza could take us 10+ years into being a QB "good to go" team. We'll see how it plays out. THE most importent thing is the head coach. Get that right and we might see the Raiders come back to life in a short time.

Attyla wrote: Wed Jan 14, 2026 3:08 pm It is not without risk but Moore is betting on himself. And the ducks should not drop off much at all so his supporting cast will be capable of showcasing his developing skill set. And hopefully his RBs hold up next year unlike this one. But I will be watching the arch or Manning closely. He has three year left but I doubt he wants to wait that long to enter the draft.
I'll call it right now, Manning does not come out in next years draft.

Word on the street is Moore went back to the Ducks when he realized the Raiders were not going to take.

This years class was supposed to be very strong, so it was said last year at this time.
Manning, Klubnik, Sellers, Allar, Nussmeier were all going to top draft picks. They all bombed.
Who you think will be tops next year could do the very same.

or ..... they gamble on Ty Simpson, wouldn't be an NFL draft without a JETS shocker pick

Who said it was going to be strong ? I keep hearing this take but most who follow college football never said this. Casuals who had this idea that Manning and Sellers would leave after their sophomore years ? Klubkik and Nussmeir are under sized QBs, Allar was always potential without actual results

Go look at just about every Too Early Mock Draft.

Sports Illustrated had them all going top 15. https://www.si.com/nfl/cardinals/onsi/n ... ch-manning
PFF even add Sam Leavitt in the top 10. https://www.pff.com/news/draft-2026-nfl ... ch-manning

Hardly "casuals" there

Notice the "WAY TOO EARLY" ! it's clickbait and did Manning and Sellers come out ? where does it say this is a strong draft ?
