We did just draft a DE in the top 10 of that draft and needed a young DT thoughchucker wrote: Sun Jan 11, 2026 10:36 am There was never confirmation, no. The Byron Young that we drafted was considered a bit of a reach, based on experts' draft boards (probably 1 round early), while the one we passed on would have been considered a an appropriate value at that pick. We also had more DT depth than we had at DE at the time of the pick.

One thing that fans tend to forget is that other teams make good plays too. When Green Bay went up 27-16 (or whatever it was), that should've been game, but Chicago didn't shit its collective football pants. Instead they played hard, made good plays, and Caleb Williams came through when it mattered most.DanKD wrote: Sun Jan 11, 2026 7:24 am You guys would turn down a fired Eagles Andy Reid. Lafleur would be our best coach in a long time. Any coach we hire will have question marks
He didn't sit on a lead because he know Josh Jacobs and his O-line wasn't getting anything done. Then his kicker blew an extra point and his defense got worn out. Etc.
It's easy to always blame the HC for everything, but sometimes shit just doesn't go your way.

Sure, but a 3-6 playoff record and back to back wild card playoff loses is what I'm looking at. Hard pass on LaFleur and his DC. And he def choked away that lead yesterday no matter how you look at it. Jacobs hasn't really done shit as of late and I think part of it is his health being mismanaged.Opoponax50 wrote: Sun Jan 11, 2026 11:26 am One thing that fans tend to forget is that other teams make good plays too. Hes gotten his team to the playoffs in 6 out of 6 years and is in his prime. Youre not getting a proven superbowl winning coach in their prime. Everyone will have question marks. I think LaFleur has maxed out what he can get out of Love and has turned Willis' career around. Id take him in a second.BoKnows81 wrote: Sun Jan 11, 2026 11:33 am Sure, but a 3-6 playoff record and back to back wild card playoff loses is what I'm looking at. Hard pass on LaFleur and his DC. Who said anything about a super bowl winning coach in their prime? I dont want retreads, I've made that clear. And if LaFleur is as good as you say he is, why would the Pack get rid of him after only 6 years? And I'd also argue that "turned Willis career around" is a stretch. He's looked good for a handful of games, that's it. The last 2 years, LaFleur has baffled most people with his coaching in the playoffs to the point where Packers fans dont want him there anymore.DanKD wrote: Sun Jan 11, 2026 11:37 am Hes gotten his team to the playoffs in 6 out of 6 years and is in his prime. Some of you are like a chick on the rebound looking for any d**k to jump on. Every coach that's fired y'all want us to hire them thinking they will be right for this team. Raiders need some originality.

Honest question: Any coaching candidates with zero lowlights in their career?
I suspect the answer is no.
If that is the case, every candidate has flaws or you hire someone with no HC history or experience

It's obvious Spytek is staying true to his word and is looking at young or younger coaches

I watched the last quarter of Bears-Packers earlier today. Packers did a terrible job on the last offensive drive. They constantly threw to the sidelines. stopping the clock even with completions. No way that much time should have been left for the Bears.
