This may have been brought up before…
This is Mendoza’s 1st season with this receiver group. Not sure if the group was highly recruited, but Fernando looks like he has played with these guys for 5 years.
This bodes well for the Raider WR/TE group and whoever we bring in.

We need a plan B in case he doesn't declare for the draft. I am worried he will go back, if they win I think he declares though and I don't think Miami had a chance.

Obviously, you can never know if a college QB can make NFL reads at nfl speed. When Carr was a rookie, I never thought he was able to process at an NFL level, although his arm strength made him serviceable.
Without an NFL snap, I think Doza has a good chance of making NFL reads. Not only because of his intellect, but also because he is a film rat.
I also think his arm strength is highly underrated. He can zip the ball.
He loves the back shoulder throw. Better make sure we get a wideout that is capable of making those type of receptions.
Better get that Oline built through free agency as well. And I wouldn't be all that upset if Shanahan followed him from IU to Vegas.

I think he's declaring, win or lose in the national champs. We don't exactly need a plan B, we just need to wait a week and a half for confirmation. Patience.

We don’t need a plan for the #1.
We do need a plan after we pick him.
He is very likely to start right away. He needs protection and some dogs up front.

I think his performance, draft position, and the Hoosiers bringing in Hoover cement the deal that he is coming out. I would not worry about that.RenoRaiders75 wrote: Sat Jan 10, 2026 7:46 am We need a plan B in case he doesn't declare for the draft. God forbid Mendoza goes back to school, I'd trade that pick to the highest bidder, even if Moore comes out. I ain't taking him at #1. Not after what I saw last night.

Jared Goff reminded me in last years playoff that he is not a reliably good qb at all. Guy plays good for a couple of series only to serve up some terrible interceptions playing from a clean pocket and under little pressure. He may not be the absolute worst but I'd be dissapointed if we drafted a qb that was comparable to him. Thankfully I believe Mendoza is quite a few steps above Goff in terms of talent.NoThanksSir wrote: Fri Jan 09, 2026 11:13 am It's kind of wild to me that folks are using a Jared Goff comp as a critique of Mendoza. Especially those in the media. Goff has proven he is a damn good QB who's early career was ruined by a dogshit organization. I think Mendoza can be even better tbh, I'm just confused by the Goff slander even after all this time.

After last night, if I am a Jets fan I am hoping for development.chucker wrote: Sat Jan 10, 2026 6:41 am I think Moore has an interesting choice ahead of him. I'm sure he'll still make more money if he declares for the draft, but does he choose money or development?
