A couple of our former greats who played in the College All Stars vs Miami Dolphins in 1973:

That's Ray Guy, if you don't recognize him kicking a field goal.

Outside the Mendoza Moore conversation
The other conversation is who do we want to backup said QB
Do we keep one of AOC, Smith or Pickett as backup?
Do we let all 3 go & sign up another vet?
Do we draft a guy to sit behind him?
If it’s Mendoza then i’m probably releasing Geno just because i think it’s beyond him to turn it around then letting Pickett walk & drafting a day 3 QB to battle it out with AOC (since he is on the cheap)
If it’s Moore then that become an interesting situation because i feel he may need to sit a year & learn behind a vet now is that vet Geno or is it maybe a guy like Malik Willis, Daniel Jones etc
A lot of people do say that backup QB is the 2nd most important spot on the team.

Can’t be Geno. It is obvious he does not want to be a Raider.CWood24 wrote: Sun Jan 04, 2026 4:31 am Outside the Mendoza Moore conversation

Pickett: Not sure he can win a game, but it could be this offense and the OL this year.
Aidan: would be our best back up out of the 3.

AOC is such a sloth in the pocket, and I'm surprised that pigeons don't light on his shoulder and take a crap.
Maybe keep him 1 more year while looking for another option. Our other 2 QBs, seeya.

Flacco, Taylor or trubisky and keep O’Connell. Solid vets, medium range good guy and the rookie seems like a good room.islandboy wrote: Sun Jan 04, 2026 5:30 am Can’t be Geno. It is obvious he does not want to be a Raider.

Geno, I could see stay for one more year based off the contract. 26 million salary and 8 million cap hit. Could he handle being #2? I'm not sure.

O'Connell would be our best bridge. He's not going to set the league on fire but he does work hard to be prepared each week and he has enough experience to give sound advice. Give him half a season then bring in whomever our rookie QB is.

I agree in general...... I don't think O'Connell will get a half season though. Maybe a few games at most.Opoponax50 wrote: Sun Jan 04, 2026 7:15 am O'Connell would be our best bridge. Yes I agree as long as we secure Mendoza. If we screw up have someone like moore he will need longer.chucker wrote: Sun Jan 04, 2026 7:20 am I agree in general...... I don't think O'Connell will get a half season though. Maybe a few games at most.

We need someone who can start Day 1, that alone means Mendoza.DanKD wrote: Sun Jan 04, 2026 8:50 am Yes I agree as long as we secure Mendoza. If we screw up have someone like moore he will need longer.

Until we secure the #1 overall pick it's really hard to think about anything else. Backup QB, coach, whatever...... there's a job to do today first.DanKD wrote: Sun Jan 04, 2026 8:50 am Yes I agree as long as we secure Mendoza. If we screw up have someone like moore he will need longer.

Ill still only feel good when we get #1 pick and Mendoza declares. The biggest dagger would he securing #1 and Mendoza deciding to run it back with Indiana

Unless Mendoza does not want to be a Raider, his draft stock couldn't be higher.DanKD wrote: Sun Jan 04, 2026 9:15 am Ill still only feel good when we get #1 pick and Mendoza declares. The biggest dagger would he securing #1 and Mendoza deciding to run it back with Indiana
