The greatest in the Raiders lies in it's future.
I posted a Mendoza highlight reel with that song somewhere around here. Thought it was funny until it became clear what a miserable earworm that song is. Next stop, total madness.

So I got a question, here is the scenario:

We have the number 1 pick in the draft going into the final week of the season, and we play the Chiefs
We lose and retain the number 1 pick in the draft
We win and we eliminate the Chiefs who are a win and in team

What do you hope for given that? I know it is unlikely that the Chiefs get in but this is actually a possibility.

We lose. I will root for my second favorite team (whoever plays the Chiefs) the following week.

I say lose and let another playoff team end their season. I don't see them going to the Superbowl this year. You will thank me in April.

I'm generally in the "I don't root for a loss" camp. Last Sunday I was rooting for success on each play, but just not caring when it went wrong as I knew we'd be better off with a loss. I had zero reaction to the return TD.

But I would be actively rooting for a loss in the final game of the season with the 1st overall pick on the line. Hating the Chiefs is a byproduct of loving the Raiders..... so I would be rooting for the Raiders future and that would trump any disdain for the Chiefs, and it's not close.

I actually think the ideal scenario for the Chiefs' elimination is a one-and-done in the playoffs. Everyone says the Chiefs can turn it on when they need to..... I'd love to see that disproven. I'd love to see them doubt themselves in the playoffs for years to come.

It makes for a good conversation as long as I am not told I am a bad fan for wanting the win. But I am in the boat of wanting to kill off their season. It makes me happy to see all the bandwagon Chiefs fans around here get dicked.

This is a no-brainer. I am numb to losing anyway. Firing coaches hasn’t worked. Get the highest pick possible and see how that goes.

When it's further from the offseason, I don't really actively root for a loss like some do. I've seen too many bad teams win games to believe that any given week is the key game. I'm not one of those who believes that 6 teams will all lose their last 6 games because it's proven wrong too often. There's a chance we win another this season, despite how bad the team can look. There's also a chance that any of the other bad teams wins this weekend, or the next......etc.

I want a high draft pick in part because I want it to be an easy decision to draft a QB. We've had some tougher decisions - where we'd need to trade draft capital to do it and we didn't pull the trigger. I've given up on good decision-making, I want the team to be painted into a corner.

I have little doubt we have to pull the trigger on a QB this time. I know there are 4 QBs most the "experts" out there like to various degrees and a lot of projections have 4 going in the first. I am not among them. I see two worthy and I see 5 QB hungry teams, so us losing out and getting one of the two is best for the team. I am just not wired to wanting to lose to those guys. I lived way too long in Chief country to want that.

If we're drafting 6th or something like that then it's not necessarily about pulling the trigger on the draft pick. It's likely about pulling the trigger on a trade to get in position to draft a guy. That's a harder trigger to pull because you want to negotiate enough that you don't pay more than you want to pay, but that could leave you empty handed. I don't have faith in that scenario working out for us. I've seen it too much to have faith.

If the Raiders still end up with the second pick after beating the Chiefs and eliminating them, that would be the best of both worlds. Moore is a good consolation prize for Mendoza

Other than his final game, give Simpson a look. He has been pretty damn sharp. Every QB has a bad game every so often and he is no exception. The one that has the most upside is also the biggest project and that is Sellers. Big frame guy with would class speed and an arm that does not disappoint. But I don't think we want a project with a massive ceiling. His tape screams Richardson. Probably a bit better than Richardson but he took a step back this year which makes me shy about him.

One win could move us up 3-5 spots. Moore could be gone.

If we don't get #1, Jets with all their draft capitol will trade up with the Giants and get Mendoza.

I think if you're that close to the #1 overall, just go for the pick at that point. Sure eliminating a team from the playoffs is fun but that feeling will only last a day or so. The chance at getting a franchise altering player has far greater impact

Sellers isn't coming out, if he's smart he hits the transfer portal, but he seems to be loyal to SC .
