Kinda wish Gannon went into coaching once his career was finished; think he would have done pretty good at it.Opoponax50 wrote: Fri Nov 21, 2025 7:35 am A QB shouldn't need permission to audible at the line. Gannon and Gruden used to get into yelling matches on the sidelines because of things like that, but Gannon was the one on the field and reading the defense. That was a good thing. The other end of that spectrum was Josh McDaniels and Carr.
Carr was good at pre snap reading and not a lot else, but McDoofus restricted Carr's ability to do what he did best, which didn't go well. The problem with Carr was that he was too much of wuss to defy his HC. An experienced QB needs to have a pair and stand his ground.

I always thought he would, but obviously never did. He's a hard-ass though. I don't know that he has the right temperament to be a coach in the NFL. When he did broadcasting for a while you could hear how irritated he'd get at QBs, especially when he'd call a Raider game. He was a good analyst though. He could point out exactly what the QB missed, when a receiver screwed up a route and caused an interception, etc.SuperRaider wrote: Sun Nov 23, 2025 2:50 am Kinda wish Gannon went into coaching once his career was finished; think he would have done pretty good at it.

I think years back he was asked about it and said he would love to but that point in life didn’t want the time commitment.Opoponax50 wrote: Sun Nov 23, 2025 5:50 am I always thought he would, but obviously never did. As others have said, he did consider it when Gruden returned in 2018. Maybe he would have instilled some of his blast furnace competitiveness with Carr. I dunno. https://www.eastbaytimes.com/2018/01/04 ... ens-staff/Opoponax50 wrote: Sun Nov 23, 2025 5:50 am I always thought he would, but obviously never did. He's a hard-ass though. Carr is too fragile for the intensity that Gannon brings.ToastPatterson wrote: Sun Nov 23, 2025 10:24 am As others have said, he did consider it when Gruden returned in 2018. Maybe he would have instilled some of his blast furnace competitiveness with Carr. I dunno.

If Geno starts the next game, I may not watch. It’s just so painful watching him alternate between missing wide open receivers and taking sacks. Not only that but just his pouty body language. The guy doesn’t have a single redeemable quality. He’s kind of the worst type of QB you want to see start for your team.

This team is painful to watch. It's not just the losing but the blatant disregard for fundamentals.
They constantly struggle to get off the ball together on the snap. Chip Kelly needs to go, there is absolutely no cohesiveness and cannot stay on schedule.
This is more difficult to watch than Tom Walsh's Bed & Breakfast offense.

He absolutely shouldn't start. He has no business as anything but a backup.heavyD wrote: Sun Nov 23, 2025 4:22 pm If Geno starts the next game, I may not watch. That's why we need to keep starting him. We're too deep into this thing now to give up and allow someone to spark this team to a single win that would somehow manage to put us at the #5 spot so that we miss out on a QB.
I'm also thinking that if we shitcan the current staff now, it could also provide a temporary, future destroying spark.
Leave it all in place until we've secured a top 3 spot. That'll give us a chance to land a good young HC because he'll be working with a talented prospect. It'll also help with landing a good OC.
There are some promising prospects that'll be available in 2026.

That is why CBS fired him.Opoponax50 wrote: Sun Nov 23, 2025 5:50 am I always thought he would, but obviously never did. He's a hard-ass though. He also predicted 12 wins for Jimmy G and said this gem:
Rich Gannon on Kenny Pickett:
"I'd take him over any QB in the 2023 draft class. What the Steelers did getting him at 20th overall was great value."

Flipping off Raiders fans when you are the worst qb in the league and your the highest paid on the team is the last straw. He definitely can't be back next year. Someone has to show Mark's goofy ass that this kind of f[raiders_icon]ckery can't be tolerated.

It’s comical at this point.
