I don't know that that's true, but we do know O'Connell will put in an honest day's work every time he steps onto the field. He was a pick machine in preseason this year though. When a QB is throwing preseason interceptions, it doesn't bode well for regular season.

Come on. They are both HORRIBLE. The only difference is one of them has not been HORRIBLE for the Raiders. I would start Pickett all day and give a selective drive or 2 to Miller so he could get his feet wet.

PS. Geno = Herpes
Well Pickett was given all the chances in Pittsburgh including a solid foundation in coaches, camp with the ones etc etc. Two years in and their staff discarded him.

AOC on the other hand has been thrown to wolves and a whirl wind of coaches/systems etc etc.

Bottom line Raiders need to try and draft a QB next year.

Sticking with Tank Commander Smith is best for the tank. AOC will win a handful of meaningless games as he has done the past few seasons dropping the Raiders out of a top 5 draft pick.

Josh Allen at Wyoming had a career 56.2% comp.

At Buffalo it’s 63.5%. His first two years his were 52.8% and 58.8%.

So, it can be taught, but it’s more the exception than the rule. But his first two seasons, he was looking pretty shaky.

Richardson quit in the middle of a game. Who else has done that at the QB position? Not another single one.
Do you read? I didn't state a single thing about liking or disliking anyone.

I agree with Drew Brees. His logic extends to players like O'Connell and Anthony Richardson, regardless of the narrative.

Bryce Young legit looked like one of the worst QBs of all time early. Once ownership came out and said they were sticking by him, that gave Young the confidence he needed to settle down. Now he looks like a completely different QB with experience and support.

Drew Brees is on the greatest QBs of all-time list. He knows first-hand, having been dealt by the Chargers who didn't give him enough time. Once he got the support he needed and vote of confidence from the Saints, he became a monster quarterback.

Geno didn't throw any picks in preseason.

yep, I read it and you still pick bad QBs repeatedly. And the notion that a QB needs 50 games before you can evaluate them is absolutely untrue and a terrible take.

We are on the hook next year for Geno’s contract and he is worthy (obvious argumentative point) of a backup role. Get rid of every other Qb on the roster and draft at minimum one next year, then surround him with quality players - this includes a new play caller.

Geno becomes our Jameis Winston two point 0.

And no, I don’t believe a Qb needs 50 starts in order to evaluate him properly, 2 seasons should be enough - and that’s if he sits the first year, which he should.

Accuracy in and of itself can’t be taught. You can correct mechanics which can improve accuracy. That was Allen’s problem. He had horrible mechanics.

It’s amusing as Josh Allen is held up as the example when in reality he had all the tools prior.

As you correctly note at the NFL level you have better been good in college because the league waits for no one and is onto the next QB who might be the guy.

The NFL refines what a QB is, it doesn’t suddenly make a bad QB good.

Isn’t that a circular argument? By improving his mechanics his accuracy improved as well. I’m not being snarky by asking that question, but by improving his mechanics his accuracy improved as well.

It isn’t circular. You can’t teach accuracy. Some guys have it some guys don’t. You can have a guy who even with perfect mechanics can’t hit the broad side of a barn. If you’re remotely accurate with bad mechanics you can improve it. If you aren’t accurate at all it can’t be taught

Often accuracy is a byproduct of the scheme the QB plays in. The you have Stabler who was able to lead the NFL in completion percentage and yards per attempt; while playing in an offense that placed more a PREMIUM on pressure passing as opposed to percentage passing.
