I really wanted Liam. He checked all the boxes (young, former QB, learned from McVay who is one of the best coaches in the league). Why didn't our dynamic duo at least speak to him considering the great job he did in Tampa Bay for the year he was there. Also, I am friends with his dad and good friends with his uncle (tickets?).

I drank the koolaid when Pete was hired. I drank the koolaid when Kelly was hired. I drank the koolaid when Spytek and Brady came aboard...... all the time thinking this will go bad. Hey; ya gotta try to stay upbeat.
Having time to think about it after the off season and 4 games in........... I think the whole thing with Pete and Chip was a big mistake. No sign of anything promising on the horizon. Pete had a great coaching career. Chip was (seemingly) a genius at Ohio State. Neither has proven to be the case with the Raiders. I'm not one to blame Mark for this...this time. He's stayed out of it. This is squarely on the front office (excluding Mark) and the coaching staff...IMO.
We don't have the greatest talent or depth.... but we do have talent... and some of it is quite good. We have talent that should lend itself to at least an 8 win season with thesupposed "quality" of our HC, OC and DC. Again, just my opinion.
Having no idea what goes on behind closed doors; It appears that there are bad feelings between Pete and some of the players. This not a recipe for winning. I don't know what needs to be done, but this has benn going on for 30 years. Other than Cleveland, I can't think of another franchize that is this inept in all phases of the operation. It doesn't matter what we do or how good it looks when we do it........... it just goes to shit.
I'm just going to chalk it up to THE CURSE! ........... and yes........... Geno is part of the curse.

Dr., many drank the koolaid and there is nothing wrong with it. For starters, just getting rid of AP was huge (as it was with McDouche). Secondly, many thought Pete (veteran coach who has had success) would bring some stability that the franchise sourly needed. I thought Chip was a great hire (what do f[raiders_icon]ck do I know). Hopefully someone, somewhere can guide Mark (good guy who knows dick about football). I know he had people he could lean on (I do not know who they are now). Obviously, bowl cut boy is in way over his head. Hopefully, Spytek and Brady can guide him. We desperately need a young, offensive minded coach (preferably from the college ranks).

The decisions on who plays and who doesn't is not being made purely from a football perspective, and it's becoming painfully evident.
JPJ, Jack Bech, Mostert, and Pratt have all been in the dog house for non-football related reasons.
JPJ walked into the building and declared to Jeanty that he was his center after Jordan Meredith during mini camp was told he was going to play center. This clearly ticked someone off and he had to earn his playing time like no other player has had to earn playing time...being clearly the best option at all 3 interior line positions but was relegated to splitting 1st and 2nd team snaps since day 1 of training camp. Despite being medically cleared to play from his concussion, he was a healthy scratch because he "didn't practice all week" despite being a participant in training camp since day 1. Brock Bowers with a severe bone bruise, and a compromised Blu Kelly played while a fully dressed JPJ watched us lose from the sidelines.
Jack Bech was part of the string of 2nd rounders who held out due to a mexican standoff between player agents and league owners. Initially it made sense that he would start camp behind the pack, but it is apparent to everyone 4th rounder Donte Thornton is seriously struggling to make a difference on the field, and Bech was drafted a whole 2 rounds before him for a reason. It took all of training camp and a month of losing football for Bech to finally get more snaps than Thornton, edging him out 36 snaps to Thorntons 32. He caught 3 of his 5 targets while Thornton was targeted twice and failed to log a reception in the Colts game.
Raheem Mostert temporarily left training camp for the birth of his child, and then left the team again during pre-season due to a medical issue regarding his newborn. Mostert's issues have always been health, but if he is 100% having Zamir White play over him was a crime against humanity. When Mostert plays 16 games he's a low end RB1 who averages around 5 yards a carry. Zamir White has ALWAYS been trash. If they legitimately saw White practice and said "This guy is better than Mostert" then it is time to start questioning football IQ. But it's really clear that this was just a punishment to prove a point.
Germaine Pratt is a loud mouth who lacks the emotional intelligence to lie to people. I'm sure he rubbed people the wrong way by putting them on blast for their poor efforts. This was known before we signed him. Pratt was far and away the best LB'er on this roster, and was being benched for Devin White when he asked for his release. Not a football move.
This is how you end up with a losing product. We're not training these guys to be boyscouts, they're supposed to win football games. In an attempt to "set the culture" Pete Carroll is rapidly losing the locker room. His grace period is over for me. There's a whole season left but it's on him to prove with the remaining 12 games that he still has it, otherwise with his age there really is no reason to continue this experiment.

Sean Payton inherited a more talented Broncos roster and his first season in Denver wasn’t very good. While I’m not a fan of how Carroll and his staff have handled the offensive line, I agree with others that have noted that culture changes don’t happen overnight. It’s all about finishing the season strong and building off that in the offseason.

Except that everyone here would likely take Sean Payton over Pete Carroll 10 out of 10 times and the Broncos zoned in on Sean being their guy. It's one thing if Pete was the Raiders guy from the beginning and they sold us on a 'rebuilding of the culture'. But I'm sorry, you can't sell me on that nonsense for a guy that was Plan B or C.heavyD wrote: Tue Oct 07, 2025 6:46 am Sean Payton inherited a more talented Broncos roster and his first season in Denver wasn’t very good. If the main priority is to build a culture you can't talk out of both sides of your mouth and say the goal is to compete. I said since day 1, before I was even critical of the new staff, that I don't believe the line that the goal was to compete this year. This was always a rebuild. They're looking for a handful of guys that will be on the roster in 2026 and Carroll will do what he typically does and turn over half of the roster with new faces again. The goal is clearly to build a foundation of players who conduct themselves and play the way Pete Carroll wants them to play. And if that means playing a lesser player to the detriment of winning games, then so be it.

Same here. The Raiders settled. No If's And's or But's. So I'm not buying into "culture change". Add in the fact that Pete wants to win now. Unfortunately as I've stated, the game seems to have passed him by. You don't need 6'5 corners anymore Pete to win.

I have a sneaking suspicion that Payton wanted no part of the Raiders disfunction.BoKnows81 wrote: Tue Oct 07, 2025 7:05 am Same here. The Raiders settled. No If's And's or But's.
